WWII Memorial Vet's Registration Open

There is a website to register WWII vets for the new World War II Memorial being dedicated next May. Registration is free, and also includes a place for civilians that worked for the war effort.

I have nominated my dad, and 2 uncles who had no children and are long gone now.

Thank you so much for the link, Darius! Guess I thought that the Armed Services would provide the names, but a search there revealed that none of my relatives on either side were listed.

Yes, I thought the Armed Services would have a complete list on there too. I gusee it's up to all of us. Unfortunately, it's not publicized.

Dori... an email back? Is that from the registration process at the website, or family information? My email from the website was almost instantaneous, so if that's whjat you are waiting for, you might try again.

By the way, my mail program sorts out junk mail, and mine went to the junk folder as it wasn't an address known to my mail program. I quickly rescued it!

Retrieving my own military records I discovered that before all the records were computerized, sometime in the 70s I think, there was a fire that destroyed many records. If you think of how many people have served in the military, what a task it would be to maintain records without computers.
So it is up to us to remember ours.
