Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

I thought this was a good thread to bump.

Quoting:
White Pearl has suaveolens in her genetic background. For that reason, I would avoid L'Amour. Rubirosa and her sisters are free of suaveolens genes and both of their parents are Pinks.

You all are creating some beautifully exquisite brugmansias!!! Thanks for sharing!

These are some lovely blooms. Have these crosses proved to be difficult to root and bloom?
I'm going to try again (3rd yr) to get Simone to bloom for me, but thus far it drops buds and looks pitiful when all around it are doing great.
But seeing again the genetic possibilities, it's worth fighting with yet again.
Mary, does yours bloom in sun or shade? I've tried only morning sun afternoon shade so far, with only a brief stint in filtered shade where I moved it to last fall. Not that it appeared to help, but it was pretty late in the year....

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Kristi do you have her in the ground or a pot?? If in the ground try putting her or make a cutting and put in a pot. Many have said HDW does not do well in the ground no matter where the amount of sun. I have mine is a huge whiskey barrel and she thrives. Maybe it has to do the amount of water it receives. Hope you can find a happy medium.

Ozark, AL(Zone 8b)

Thanks DonnaB. It was potted the first year, and in the ground last year, auto water system. I do have a large cutting that spent half the season in the ground, but it grew very slowly. I'll try one in a pot and one in the ground, filtered sun, and hope! (ps sorry I missed you at the swap, Didn't even know you were there until I read it here! lol!)

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Simone never bloomed at all for me, so I sent Susie a big cutting since she had lost hers, and composted the rest. I only got one of the seeds to germinate, and it also dropped every bud it ever had, so it got composted, too.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Simone has bloomed for me a few times now.
I have rooted cuttings, also. But Monika says she may cull Simone.
So its sits for now.

A mature plant now, it has bloomed better with each flush.
Pix are on my DG threads and at my website.

Mine grows in a large pot in the greenhouse.
She has done good there.
I am trying to get her pumped up again to bloom.
This time if she does still better, she may be worth the extra effort.

Desiree is the one not looking its best for me.

Alice
