HoneyGirl, my ex husband is a Bath fireman... right in that firehouse. It's a VERY small community, I bet I know that person... :) my maiden name was Campbell and I lived on Granger all my life, across from the mill in the house they recently painted a HORRENDOUS shade of blue to spite the township trustees because they turned down their request to do something to that house that they wanted to do (our family home, what a shame)...
You guys, my sister has all our family pictures in some boxes in her old stinky garage since our dad died and we dissolved the family estate and sold the above mentioned house back in July of 1999... so I have no idea where or what condition that picture is in but I will see if it got past the worms and bugs. Say a little prayer she will get nostalgic and want to go thru the old pictures and divide them up between herself and me (the only 2 siblings) so my husband can see the old pictures and so we can once and for all divvy them up and get them into a safer place than their unheated and un-climate controlled garage.
Sheesh!
Things Unheard Of
Anybody remember these guys? This is from back in the days when celebrities were hired to appear at new supermarket openings. My sister has one of Clarabelle from the Howdy Doody show, and Mom gave this one to me.
Lt. Rip Masters did the autograph, and my Mom nearly blushed herself to death. I got to shake his hand. Wasn't old enough to go to school yet, but I sure remember this.
One of my Mom's from 1945. Won't make you guess who..
It's Merle Oberon. Anybody else out there with celeb photos? I don't have a scanner yet, so I took a photo of the pics, saved them onto my computer.
I've got a Mavica with the floppy disk-- really love it. Old photos can be re-sized and touched up if you have Image Expert or a similar program.
Oops! Forgot to say that the first pic is of the cast of
Rin Tin Tin, a fifties TV show. Lassie's competition, LOL.
What a collector's item you have there.
Nice old photos!
I once met "Lash LaRue" at a State Fair when I was small, but I don't think he was well known.
You mean Lash LaRue, "King of The Bullwhip" the man in black, star of so many "B" western movies, a short-lived TV show and comic books?? I used to watch his movies on TV with my Dad, and caught heck for cutting up Mom's clothesline to make my own "bullwhip". I sure wore some nasty welts on my hide from learning how to crack that whip, LOL.

Old TV ?
I remember going to my grandpa's house to watch wrestling.
There was a very small black & white TV up in the corner of the living room. No lights in the room. The TV was very snowy. Grandpa could get this channel nobody else could because he built is owm antenna on a tall pole that he could turn to point at the station. This was before rotors.
Some of the star wrestlers were; Farmer Marlin, Verne Gagne, my grandpa claimed he was related, Tiny Mills, The Crusher, The Bruiser, Baron von Rasche, & a tag team that were supposed to be Russians.
This was in the 50's, later when I lived in Twin Cities, I actually met some of these guys.
The Crusher, who would come to ring with a keg of beer on his shoulder & a big unlit cigar in his mouth, taught 3rd grade at a Catholic grade school in St. Paul.
Tiny Mills raised purebred Polled Herford cattle near Milaca, MN. He always had a plaid shirt & bib overalls & Red Wing work boots.
Farmer Marlin was always barefoot, bib overalls & no shirt.
These guys actualy used regular wrestling holds & did a much better job making everything look real.
They didn't make much money either, but had lots of fun.
Bernie
My grandparents watched wrestling too - do you remember Gorgeous George ? He had long blonde hair, and the other wrestlers would grab hold. My granny was a very quiet, refined woman except when she watched wrestling. She would slap her knee and yell "Get him, brother !". I remember the Baron too.
Lash LaRue - oh my goodness.....
Janie Joy - My friend's name is Konarski. They live right in back of the pond.
