I finally got my computer troubles straightened out, but with all the yardwork completely overwhelming me, as well as trying to re-learn Chemistry to help my brother learn it, I am so far behind that I don't think I will ever catch up!
Now with the holidays approaching, all the cooking and baking has to be done, and the house must be thoroughly cleaned before Thanksgiving.
I also was tapped to be the Treasurer for the coming year for the Herb Garden where I volunteer, the library committee that I chair has been re-activated, and the Spring Herb Symposium (in March) is starting to occupy a lot of time. Whew! How am I supposed to join my perennials and become semi-dormant? LOL Maybe I will have to be like my hardy geraniums and stay evergreen.
I did manage to say no to one request: a local community center where I used to do a lot of volunteer work asked for my help in getting their computer troubles fixed. I said not until after the first of the year. Enough is enough!
I am not ignoring anyone, I am going to try to handle my e-mails, but if you don't hear from me for a few weeks, please, forgive me. If it is anything urgent, please write urgent or emergency on the subject line.
((( Dave's Garden friends )))
I'm Drowning!
Well, we'll be here when you get back. :)
Miss you Lupi but like Kim says we will be here when you get back. Of course some of us will be more here than others. giggle
Phew! I was wondering where you were hiding! Glad to hear you are ok and hope you get some respite soon!
You're just a busy little bee Kathy!! Me too, but pretty mundane stuff compared to your load. I had a sudden urge to clean out all kitchen cabinets and reorganize and the sudden energy boost continues as I tackled my linen cupboard yesterday. I can well imagine how your kitchen is about to become a hive of activity!!!! :-)
Just a note here.....some mail is not getting through to me since we installed the spam blocker so if anyone has mailed me and had no response please try again omitting the subject. :-)
Thank you all for understanding :)
Louisa, I have been so worried about you! I just couldn't spare the time to wait for a library computer while mine was down to even check my e-mail, much less write any.
Zany, a muse would sure help me. Got anything along the lines of calculating the k-constant for a third-order reaction? How about for determining the wave function for gamma ray particles in a fusible reaction with heavy water? I am not even sure that last is possible -- it is an E.C.
Pond, maybe a goat-whip to keep Composition away from my brother's concentration while I am trying to force chemical formulas into it? *lash back! away with essays!
I so long to get back to my preferred area of practical botany (in other words, gardening!)
(((( garden friends )))) Your encouragement has kept me going many a day.
Cracking that goat whip would be my pleasure.
I was thinking of my experience with chemistry. I almost failed chemistry until I was in the hospital for three weeks and by chance my roommate was my chemistry teacher's wife. In those years (the dark ages of the 60's)you could only spend a small amount of time visiting your loved one but as a tutor for me he could stay all day. I passed chemistry for the year!
Sorry Lupie, the only Chemistry I learned in school was the kind that happened when a cute little boy looked at a cute little girl and made sparks fly!
LupineLover, hope things do slow down for you a little. i know nothing about chemistry. Didn't take it in school. Take Care. Donna
Hmmm, Pond, maybe that would be a way for Steve to go? Put him back in the hospital for a few weeks? Nah. He is willing and working hard to learn, but the going is hard.
Le Chatelier's Principle (equilibruim solutions) has got him really stumped this weekend. Not to mention the Activation Energy. That one is more of Physical Chemistry, and Physics was never one of my strengths.
The best news is that the quarter ends on 11/26 (the day before Thanksgiving) and finals week follows. Almost there! He isn't taking Chemistry this winter, but will again in the spring, so there goes all my spare spring time! Yeah, right. All gardeners have tons of spare time in the spring.
Lupi,
Our son is really considering going to college to teach Chemistry. I can send him down for tutoring if you want to pay the bills. LOL
YEAHHH that he isn't taking it this winter and maybe by spring you can find a tutor for him. You need your spring time for planting and not for planting chemical formulas in his head.
71/125!!!!!!!
that is his score for his second midterm. Third in his class!!!!!!
I guess all the studying is paying off, huh?
Pond, your son is really thinking of becoming a college Chem prof? Wow! I am so impressed! Here's hoping that his college will be a lot better than the ones here, and actually try to teach the students, not use it as a way to weed out the spare students. Chemistry can be so fascinating, but not the way it is taught here.
No Lupi he would like to teach at middle school or high school level and try to stimlate more interest in the subject of any type of science. He feels like it is being taught much too boring now and he knows that he could do it well. We shall see if he does do that with his life because right now he is still starting a new business of computer tech support and repair plus training and doing well (very well) in his second month of business. He may decide to stay where he is and volunteer as a tutor instead. Either way he will help kids.
I am sneaking a break in on a day when winter arrived :(
So much has happened while I have been absent, both to me and to many of my Garden friends.
I hope to be back, at least a little, sometime during the week of the 8th of December, but until then, my brother is pulling a C+ so far!!!!!! 2 weeks until Final, they are going to be busier than before.
Hi Kathy So good to know you are Ok if overwhelmed I had been wondering about you and your brother asnd parents. Hope you have a blessed Christmas season Shirley
