HTML Tables Not Allowed?

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Hi Dave,

I put in an HTML table that rendered fine in the "preview". But, when I posted it, the table code was removed :( Do you prefer we not use tables or is this just a fluke?

Thanks!

HTML tags aren't allowed in the forums. Only bold, italic, and underline.

That's why the table didn't survive your post.

Oh, okay. When did you make that change? May I ask why? It's just so much easier to post a table to show the progress on co-ops, orders, etc... Just curious is all.

Thanks!

As far as I recall, I made that change years ago! :) At least 2 years...

I did it for security reasons, mostly. Allowing HTML can open up potential security compromises.

Also, I find that HTML in forums oftentimes degrades into a bunch of color and other stuff that takes away from the content of the posts.

Thanks for explaining... I used a table earlier this year (February/March) when I was keeping track of a co-op for Purple Majesty seeds. When I worked with it, it was very particular as I recall. I had to type text first and the table had to be in the very first post or it wouldn't work. I looked back through and found the thread. The html has been stripped now.

I'll noodle on this but I was curious, too, if you could help brainstorm something of a chart like nature that we could use on DGs. It's so helpful in showing statuses of co-ops or whatever. We don't need color. Just something where we could select "X" number of columns, name the columns and then usually the number of rows for each participant.

Here's a print screen of what worked in the Spring in case you're interested...

Could we have tabs work in the forums, or would that mess stuff up?

tabs would be good.

Cheri'

tabs? What html tag are you referring to?

Thanks for the info, Morph. I'll see what I can do.

I don't know of the HTML tag, I just mean tabs...Like at the beginning of a paragraph, or a means of indenting text a uniform amount one or more times.

Yes, plain old fashioned typewriter tabs would be GREAT if nothing else!!!!!

Thanks, so much, Dave, for taking a look at this :)
