spell checker?

Seattle, WA(Zone 8a)

How can one spell check a post on DG?

We don't have a spellchecker here.

One solution is to make your post in MS Word (or whatever else you might have) and run your checker there. When you are finished, copy and paste the message into DG.

I have a spell checker on my 'puter that checks the spelling in text boxes. Unfortunately it only works on Windows 98 and lower. It was developed for 3.1 ...

There must be a similar product out there for ME, 2000 and XP ...

I gotta say, this handy little app alone is enough to keep me from upgrading my OS for as long as possible. I use it all the time.

If you use Internet Explorer, you can install a spell checker - here's another thread: http://davesgarden.com/t/368794/

(Edited to ummm, well - to correct a spelling error!)

You beat me to it, Terry. I love that little spell-checker soooo much!

Is there one for Netscape?

I've been looking, but only find references to the one included in the mail portion thus far.

Hey, you're back on the web! Last I read, you could do e-mail, but no web. What changed, Mel?

My elderly computer is having bouts of creeping senility...looks like I've been patched up,but only a temp.fix.

James says I'm gonna need a new one before long, rather than pour money into this dinosaur.....and I was wanting that new digital Canon Rebel...sigh...

I was afraid that would hamper your plans for that dreamy new camera. Of course we all know that a computer is the most important possession a person can own other than a hoe and clippers so the choice looks pretty obvious to me. Of course there is always the KY lottery that you might just win if you are good. No, excuse me, that is the wrong example. Santa will come and bring you goodies if you are good. Now....maybe you need to write a letter to Santa.

OH! Elena...You always know just the right thing to say...LOL Jo

WOW! I downloaded the ieSpell and it works on the forums here! Now all I have to do is remember to use it before I hit the send button ;~)

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Guess I gotta do this......I have been entering some post on my e-mail and the cut and paste to the forum so I could use spell check......this would be so easy....since sometimes I'm in a hurry and just post direct..then go back and see all the spelling errors..thanks for the info.........

It won't catch homonyms (words that sound alike - http://www.cooper.com/alan/homonym_list.html ), but it'll catch most misspellings! We love it here!
