120 gal. of Seaweed and Fish Extract to apply. How would you foliager spray that much?
As a lazy gardener this is how I do it.
1-30 gal water tight container
1-cheap Sears utility submersible pump. They come with a garden hose fitting on them.
Hoses totaling 200 feet!
30 minutes later all done!
Olds!
120 gal. of Seaweed and Fish Extract.
I'd just get my neighbor (farmer glen) to put it in his tractor with the boom sprayer, and spray what needed sprayin.
Fifteen gallon 12 volt sprayer run off my lawn mower battery.Ernie
"Boys and their toys!". LOL
Badseed boys just wanna have fun.
I mean after all you girls have dishwashers, stoves, vaccumm cleaners, and all that stuff even special little heater things to dry your hair with.
We deserve a thing of comfort as well. OK maybe I have a couple of toys.
Ernie - OUCH! Those aren't toys. I think I'd have more fun with a tractor than a dishwasher. :)
eweed, I have to agree with sbarr. What makes you think a dishwasher, vacumm, and a stove are toys. Whew! Boy, are you a confused little puppy. Would you consider a weed eater, lawn mower, or any other sort of work related items toys for boys. Hum? Now I would say that maybe a riding lawn mower maybe classified as a toy but I think you need to rethink that last post or you may be toast. Heheh LOL
Hey I do the dishes, cook, laundry, and vacuum. Not to mention cleaning the carpet on a daily bases....those are not toys!
Now a toy is my toon boat, my computer, my camera, my fishing equipment, and most of all my wife! LOL!!!
Phew with all I have to do it is no wonder I'm a lazy gardener.
Olds
Not confused at all it has something to do with my sense of humor.
Could it be we all girls and boys have and hold precious more material goods than we really need?Ernie
"Could it be we all girls and boys have and hold precious more material goods than we really need?"
YES! What I wouldn't do to have a dishwasher! I prefer to use the broom to clean the floor although I do own a small hoover. I spent an inordinate amount of hours using a broom in my previous career and it's much better than any fitness wossname and if you're practised it takes the same amount of time as a vaccuum. I don't do it for that reason though, I simply dislike the sound of a vaccuum.
As to applying Seaweed and fish extract, I'd probably use the good old watering can, I know where it's going that way and I'm less likely to throw it on myself *G*
Dow Oldman 120 gallons in thirty minutes.
When you do this with your pump method you must be wetting the ground at the same time.
Do you use a nozzel or spray wand on the hose end? Ernie
eweed, Where did you get the 15 gallon 12 volt sprayer. I could use one of those TOOLS.
Olds got it high volume low pressure. I think I have the same pump in my pump house to take care of things in case I get another leak.
I have been thinking of building one of these for a while because I get tired of cleaning my sprayer.I can see the difference in spray time as we speak.
Ok Badseed I get a new toy next spring.
Krisisdad I got it at a local farm store. There is a place called Northern Tools that is a big mail order tool co that sells them as cheap as I have ever seen.
I will look around for an old catalog in case you can't find them on the web. They come in several sizes and styles as low as around a hundred dollars. It is not only a time saver it just down right sprays beter than those old pump up things which are ok if you are doing miniture things. Regards Ernie
If I could have any *toy* in the world, it would be a greenhouse! I tell people now, I have everything I want except a greenhouse and a few acres. :) Of course I would take these in a warmer climate in a heart beat!!!
Calling Badseed, still have a room....not many toys so bring your own.
Badseed and you to shall have a greenhouse one day I feel it. Ernie
YEA! Meeeeee Tooooo? Thae greenhouse is in the future though as I still need to get my raised beds all built for all my Birthday dirt that I got. Santa's going to be busy this year building all those beds. Hehehe are you listening DH.
Awwww guys! You know Connie, if it were just me, I'd be there already! LOL I think I would miss my kids. ;) I have plenty of toys though.
Ernie, I love the way you think. Keep sending me those greenhouse vibes!!
I quote:

Olds, are you sure you ain't my clone?!!
TC...
Well, hrrummpphh! I resemble...er...resent that remark! ;~)
That's a great shot of you and yer Mother Olds!
How big of a spot do you spray fertilizer on?
TC...
"How big of a spot do you spray fertilizer on?"
TC not certain what you mean...
Olds, I guess I must've thought you were sprayin a field or sumpin. I take it yer jus sprayin fertilizer on foilage now that I've went back up there and read yer first post.
How much stuff do you spray? All of yer garden plants, lawn, shrubs, and all that?
TC...
I use seaweed on everything! Seaweed and fish on my non-native palm trees.
Composting here is becoming a hassle. More and more of the green I need when I find it, it has been sprayed by some homeowner with a chemical.
I do not use chemicals. If for no other reason our water supply. There is no hard pan in Florida.
I really don't fertilize a lot myself, and I stay away from using chemical sprays. I was at a lecture recently and heard Eliot Coleman stress the importance of healthy soils for healty plants. The only amendment he mentioned was compost, compost, and more compost. That's great if you can get all you need. I do compost, but there's never enough.
TC...
I would never have thought of using a pump to spread fertilizer, even though we've drained our small pond by using the pump. I'd have to say, that's definitely in the TOOLS category - great ideas in this thread!
Nice to see ya, Olds. :)
Well GW how about an update of you and your other half?
