A-hmmm....(here goes, and I fear the worst!)

"Hey Jo...♫ where ya goin' with that gun in your hand...? ♫

Er, no! that wasn't it.

"HEY Jo!...trick or treat! Smell my feet!"

UHHHH...hmmm, no. That wasn't it either.

"Hey JO! Crank up the broom, (*deleted*) wants you to come visit!"

Nahhhh...that wasn't it either. Oh yeh! NOW I remember!

"Hey Jo!...Didja carve a pumpkin this year, or are YOU gonna sit in the window?"

Yeh, THAT's it!

Like I said, I was put up to this! But ya'll will never guess by who!

(By the way, I didn't carve no pumpkin, and now I'll be sitting in the window tonite, hopefully scaring kids but most likely making them laff at me!)

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Beware of black cats and ghosts, broomsticks ...and those old wringer washing machines!

Don't think I'd like this new custom of sitting in the window, though. My Thanksgiving pumpkin pie always comes from the Halloween Jack O' Lantern! Hmm... maybe I should post that on the Dirt Cheap forum...LOL

Nessie? You all talking about Loch Ness? hehehehheh

North Tonawanda, NY(Zone 3a)

Not so "newbie" in the age dept, 'Shoe! When I was little, I got my fingers pinched in the wringer. And that's when my Mama told me that her Grandma knew a woman who got something else caught in the wringer. 'Course, that sounds like some kind of turn of the century "urban legend" to me.

Years later, My Grandad was talking about how things were in the old days, and being a smart-mouth teenager I come out with the story. Well, turns out the story was actually the truth! The lady that lived next door to them when he was a tadploe did have a "Nessie experience"!

He explained that back then, wringers weren't electric. They had a crank you turned with one hand while you fed the wash in with the other, and I guess she got a little too close to her work, LOL!

PS. You haven't tasted pumpkin pie if you haven't made one from scratch! I'm utterly shameless and ask for the pumpkin we have at work, too, so I have enough to freeze up for pumpkin bread and muffins.

Yeah, I know, you're gettin' some kind of mental image of this woman sneakin' around in the middle of the night, snitchin' pumpkins off from people's lawns and front porches...

Crossville, TN

So that's where my pumpkin went!! I'll expect a PIE! LOL Jo

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Don't put your pies on the window sill to cool, because "you know who" will come swooping down and fly off with them! hehehe

North Tonawanda, NY(Zone 3a)

Oh, my! Guess I'll have to email RR's pie, it would be safer that way, LOL. Can't cool anything on the windowsill around here--the chipmunks have gourmet taste. They got into my landlady's pan of brownies last summer. What they can't pouch and drag away, they sit and eat, right there on the spot!
