Climbing trees, making dams in any running water, building forts from horseweeds and exploring! Also making tents with safety pins. Mom made big quilts so we had big tents on the clothesline or over the bunkbeds.

First Woman on the Moon

You have to be old enough to appreciate this. If you don't
understand this,

you are too young.

That is so funny!

Bump!

I brought this home the other day. Anyone have a Scat Scoota? Very easy to fall off of. They are reselling them under another name. Mine is from the early 70's.

This isn't so old. It's my Daughter's, from the early 80's. I see they are reselling these under another name too. I think they are a worthy toy! I can ride it, as it has a 150# limit. You rest your feet on the handle bars. You turn the handle bars back and forth with your hands and it propels you forward. I think it's fun!

someone asked if we ever had our siblings eat something because it tastes great....well yes I did....a whole box of 24, I think crayola crayons....he was my younger brother I peeled them and gave them names like grapell and apple etc and gave them to him and he ate them....he was three and I was 7...Then there was the *stew*............lol how he ever lived is beyond me.....

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

I don't think I want to know how the crayons went thru his system, but we have to know what ''the stew'' is!

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

LOL lets just say things were very colorful for a few days....The stew oh boy I was 9 and he was 5...and I decided to take mud from the corral, fresh eggs, hey he needed protein, and some alfalfa hay pellets, and little sweet feed and pour boiling water over it stir it all up real good let it set it in the sun for a couple of hours and then strain it out and let him drink it..I called it chicken soup...LOL he was sooooo sick. And I almost beaten to death when I got caught...

I remember towing him behind the jeep too........I was 11.........LOL

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Oh my gosh! I can't believe he kept believing you!

I'm afraid to ask how you towed him, but I have to know.

LOL I f I go to prison for step brother abuse will anyone bail me out???

My job used to be to go look for late cows coming out of the mountains and get tehm to the corrals, I had been driving for about a year and the jeep was an old willis with a fiberglass body. Well we had a full sheet of plywood with skid 2x4's nailed to it running the length..I decided to drill 4 holes across the top...2 for the tow rope and 2 for the rope handle..such a great idea it had been sitting there forever.and even curved a bit in the middle...lol the wrong way....got it all done a made a few test runs with out little brother, then told him he could go out and check for cows with me....hehehehehe well he saw the *sled* and jumped on and away we went. Did great going out, whipping him back and forth, jumping little berms of snow no problem, him hollering to go faster... even got to 3rd gear before I lost him and had to stop and start again....well coming back into the barn I was hauling to beat the band, remember 3rd and no problems, well we rounded a corner he went up into the air, over the now big berm of snow, LOL I have no idea where it came from,.. he screamed and I slammed on the brakes in time to watch him fly past me with the plywood sled in tow, No he never let go, and into the slushy irrigation ditch....we are about 5 miles from the house in an open jeep...he was almost blue when we got back...but being the good big sister I put him into a nice hot bath and threatened to kill him if he told.

There are so may things I did to terrorize him growing up...poor kid..

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

ROTFL!!!! I would have loved to have been there!

I think he counts as a childhood toy! :))

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

And I wondered why he would never let me teach him how to ride the horses...LOL

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

LOL. I'm not wondering where you got your good sense of humor anymore. I hope your brother finds the memories amusing!

................ back OT ..................

Little sisters wooden blocks floating away down stream. Making bean bags for playing catch. Running as fast as you can with a long streamer of crepe paper flowing behind you , seeing how many bees you can catch in a old jelly jar. Running home from school as fast as you can and jumping little lawn fences along the way. A trip to the penny candy store with 2 cents to spend on yourself. Making your own Halloween costume from old curtains and winning your age group for a box of chocolates , playing in lawn sprinklers , searching for sweet wild strawberries along the tracks......................... I never even heard the words 'I'm bored' being used ;-))
