Another one with corolla splits. I'd love to see one in color like this. A nice bright pink... or deep orange ;o)
Heartbeat
Wow Poppysue I love that one. It sure would be pretty in pink. Is that one of your crosses?
This sure makes your heart beat! Beautiful poppysue.
Very nice,Very different!!I like it!
This sky is so blue, I would accuse the colors in this pic of being altered except the flower is a white one! LOL
Looks like a flutterfly! So beautiful.
Is this Tonny's picture from ABADS? This one and Vi's sure do look like sisters. It says, under the picture, that Heartbeat siblings exist in the US.
Monika, please tell me why you like such seedlings now.
You always told me to toss such stuff.
May be I can plunder my kompost, still not that hard frost here.
Really beautiful, just saw it the other day. There are a few photos in his albumn that really look like Star Dancer. Do you know how big his flower is Sue, or how long it's been around?I hope we get alot more--it's really a different look!
You know Brugie, I saw another pic of one similar to this one in the last 2 weeks. I just wish I could remember where. I had no idea there were sibs here in the US. I thought Vi said that she found hers a few years ago. Is Tonny's a new hybrid? I think so.
I just love both of them. They are so similar. And Sue you are right, in color they would be fantastic. So different. It is nice to have such a different type bloom once in awhile.
I believe they look very different.Star Dancer has a large and good looking flower.
A very different flower indeed.Very nice poppy.
Yes... this was a new seedling of Tonny's. Kell, I think it was Tracey that also has a seedling with splits. I don't think it was a sibling.... but I don't know? I spose it's all just a matter of taste & what you like. These ones are more appealing to me than the Shredded White. For some reason that one always looks deformed to me - Lol.
I agree Sue, I just can't like "Shredded" no matter how I try. Hope Tracy keeps hers too, I don't think it hurts to have too many different types of brugs, I think it makes it that much more exciting.
I am so glad we have a special one of these here in the states for once! Good job Vi!! We do not have to lust after it from afar. We have our own! LOL.
We should ask Tracey to post hers, was it very similar to these 2? I can't quite picture it. No memory.
Wouldn't it be funny if they were the same size also?
Sue, I don't like the shredded white anymore either, and to think how I lusted after it!
I think its cool looking why would you want to toss it?
Shredded white smells great, but it can be very messy. However, I'm going to grow one again next year. I just miss the fragrance.
Uh oh--I didn't hear that!
You hated it when you grew it Brugie! I remember the mess it made for you. Well mine has buds so I will definitely take it away from the others and check the fragrance. If you love it that much it must be special.
One of the strongest, Kell. I will be sure not to put it where I have to clean up every day. Probably out in the garden, except I can't smell it out there when I'm sitting on the deck. Will have to think about this one.
Now that's pretty! Please tell us you're keeping it!
There it is! It will be interesting to see if the splits will pass on to the offspring.
I think they are both very pretty. I personally like seeing a difference in shapes of the blooms. I am not a shredded white fan at all, but these are a little different and unique and that makes them appealing to me.
Well Tonny's and Vi's difinitely look more alike than does Tracey's. All are great!!
But isn't it funny that 3 would be posted so close together, within 2 weeks? I hope your pink pollination gives us a pink one Tracey. It would be great to have these in colors! I hope Vi and Tonny are trying also.
Very neat blooms! ((o:
with millions of seedlings growing now it's no wonder similar ones are showing up. this is a good lession for brug nuts, grow those seeds out! i'm glad i got to see Vi's Star Dancer in person. Much much better than shredded, Vi!
Smile and sorry Ludger, I do not want the plants back I had composted last year and for which you drove all the long way to pick them up from my compost pile!!!
Since you are just a short time in Brugmansias and not firm in knowing all hybrids so please, look up the Gallery for Sternenzauber. It looks much like poppysues flower and I LOVED IT!

Poppysue, here is something for you to compare. It is Sternenzauber. All flowers were slitted and every year she bloomed, she brought many of these beautiful flowers.
The tree was completely damaged due to a heavy thunderstorm.
The hail damages on the branches were so heavy, that the cuttings rotted.
If your plant keeps on showing this trait and you dont mind, I would love to have someday a cutting of it.
Oh my that are awesome Poppy and Monika. Vi how does your Star dancer compare to Poppys??
Wow now this it what mine looked like back in the summer, when it got cooler the serration closed some, but not all the way. We will definately have to try to pollinate this one with the other. Here is a side shot, and again sorry for the darkness. I think she has some buds maybe this time will be better for bright pictures.
With all these beautiful split corollas, someone could have something very special next year if they are able to get color in it. This will be an exciting adventure for all of you and I wish you much luck in getting color in such unique flowers.
I'm sorry if you all thought the plant was mine. It's not... it belongs to Tonny and still remains in Denmark. He let me borrow his picture for show and tell. I think we'll have to be content with Star Dancer & Tracey's seedling here in the states.
Monika, I think I remember you talking of Sternenzauber before. It's too bad it doesn't still exist. Maybe with a little experimenting there will be more to come with these slitted corollas. I'm curious what the English translation of "Sternenzauber" would be.
Poppysue, its a poetic word. The correct translation would be Star Magic, the meaning is the Magic of Stars.
Have you named yours Tracey?
Vi did you know about the Star Magic name when you named yours? It is so close it would be funny if it was a coincidence. Almost like Sternenzauber is reaching out from the past.
Did it finally get a name,Poppysue? I remembered when it opened!! I thought Wow was a good name for it,because that was what I said when I first saw it,:).
Welcome home Gwist! I hear you had a great trip.
Hey Kell,it was wonderful!! Sadly,my worst fear was realised and I DID come home to droopy, dried out Brugs.Cried my eyes out,but now I know not to go away in Fall and leave my son in care of my garden, lol.
Oh NO! I hope they'll recover with a little TLC. I'd never be able to trust my DH to take care of my brugs. Never EVER. In fact, he'd prolly run them through the shredder the moment I left!
