Fires in SoCal

Lake Elsinore, CA(Zone 9a)

Well, I have had several bouts of rain this morning. I can see the clouds stacked up against the mountains! YES!!! (I have a view of the San Bernardino Mtn fire areas from my home) I see more clouds headed that way. Things seem to be getting better.

My sister is going back to her home in San Diego today. The fireman lit a backfire(she was in the Otay Fire area) and saved the homes in her area. The fire on the other side of them was put out.

My doctor's offices are in Ramona and Alpine, both fire areas evacuated and his new home was evacuated yesterday am. He has lived at the new home for 4 months. His old neighborhood all burned up, every last home. We are waiting to see how he faired.

I also have a friend that just built on the outskirts of Jullian in the fire area. I am waiting to hear from her.

This is so close to home. I just pray for everyone to stay safe and for the families of the victums.

Thanks for the rain dance Shoe, it worked! I see more rain clouds headed our way. YES!!!

Lets pray San Diego gets rain fast also.

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

We got about 2 minutes of rain. I hope that it moves east. Those raindances must be working cause the rain was not due until tomorrow. Unfortuantely the rain is bringing wind so I hope we get more liquid too.

I'm praying for everyone's safety. Praying for rain also.

Crossville, TN

We are having the Santa Ana winds too...and so much haze from the fires in CA that I can't quiet see the surrounding mountains....butam very thankful that it is all we have....no fires! Praying and dancing here. Jo

North Tonawanda, NY(Zone 3a)

We didn't get rain today here. I asked God to send it where it's needed and let our overflowing rivers and streams subside! CA needs more than a few sprinkles, so I'll keep praying He gives you enough to do the trick, without washing you away.

Horn, Netherlands(Zone 8b)

Also here in The Netherlands..my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Verona, ON

We have 3 of those barrels Shoe has, all filled with water - yes we have had buckets of rain. Just trying to figure the fastest and most efficient way to get the water to you guys, Our thoughts, hopes and prayers are with you all,all day. Got any advice Shoe on the fastest way to blast these water missles west? D.

Montebello, CA(Zone 10a)

What did I say about Pre Holloween rain?
WooHoo!!!!!

Tom....send that rain on this way when you're through with it.....we would apreciate it! Jo

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

No rain here but it is cool, which is a blessing. There are clouds but nothing falling. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Lake Elsinore, CA(Zone 9a)

No rain today here at my house but, the rain hit the mountains here last evening, the winds however too. We are getting our normal Halloween day before cold snap. Seems like Mother Nature has her clock set on Oct 30th. Same day we got it last year and the year before. We sure need this wet, cool weather.

Sis has no power and may not for weeks. Generator is going stong! Doc is fine and offices just don't have phone lines up yet. They were lucky. My other friend in Jullian I have still not heard about. She is hard to reach. I pray her home is still standing.

Thanks all for the prayers and the rain dances! Yes Tom, I jump with joy along with you! Now we need rain for the San Diego area.

Frog I'm sure everyone will dance for San Diego!

Crossville, TN

Dancing and praying here!! Jo

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey Tom,
Do you know whether the interstate 8 from AZ to El centro is open or closed

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

Jan, Last I saw 8 was open all the way to the coast.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh that's great. My Brother's in law have to make a trip to Hemit and plan on using Intstate 8 part of the way. The fires aren't in Hemit are they. I haven't seen anything on the news.

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

As far as I know, there are no fires in Hemet, Jan. The only roads that are closed here at this time are around Julian. Hwy 78 and 79

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

I am so bummed about Julian. That was one of my favorite place to go. Especially during the apple festaval. Now I here that Julian is no more. What a sad sad state of affairs Southern California is in right now. Have you been affected in any way.

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

Downtown was saved. They made a stand to save the hisoric down town area. No word on the orchards though.

Other than cabin fever because of being house bound I am ok. The kids had no school all week but are due to go back Monday. The air quality index were I am is now safe. The fire was just a few miles from me but that was early in the fire-Sunday of last week. We had some rain last night and the weather is staying cool , so they are hopeing to contain the San Diego fires in a few more days.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

That is wonderful news. I hope that it is all over soon.
Thanks for the info.

Lakeview, MI(Zone 5a)

Glad to hear things are getting better, Thanks for the update.

Tremont, IL(Zone 5b)

My oldest daughter lives in La Mesa & my mom lives in Hesperia. It has sure been comforting reading all your posts from Cal. It's almost like keeping in touch with them. My prayers are with all of you in So. Cal.

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

They are hoping to have all of the San Diego fires contained by Monday. The Cedars fire is now 80% contained and the Paradise fire 60%. We got measurable rain! 15 hundredths!

Big Bear is still in danger even though it is snowing in that area.

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

I can't stop the tears for all you folks in the fire areas. Though not nearly so serious, I was surrounded by fires last summer, and I know how it can play on your nerves. I remember the fear, smoke, and the red moon.
Love and prayers from the mountains of SW Oregon.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

I am so glad to see this fires getting under control. What a relief for all of you. And how wonderful to be able to breathe fresh air again. Makes me think about how much I take for granted, including the air that I breathe.

Cambria, CA(Zone 10a)

NoH2O, you took the words right out of my mouth: "how wonderful to be able to breathe fresh air again." If you check above you'll find the post where I showed the sun/ocean last Sunday at 3. Well, here's pretty much the same view, same camera settings, today at around 3. We got some rain and there really is not much that's more appreciated than the pattering on the roof after the air quality we've had around here. Thank goodness these horrible fires are coming to an end. Let's hope we get some significant rainfall before the next Santa Ana or we may just be in for more fires.
