UK visits

Bolton, Greater Manc, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Following on from the "How many states have you visited" thread I notice quite a few of you have visited the UK.
What Id like to know is which parts of the UK did you see? and which sites/places where the most memorable?

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Sorry to say I've never been there psilo. Sure sounds like a great place to come tho. Perhaps one day I'll make it and get to see some of ya'll folks. (How long does it take a boat to get there?) (A BIG boat!)

Yep, you guessed it. I don't fly too good!

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

My first trip to Europe was a 10 day circle of England into Scotland. We skipped London as I wanted to see as much of your lovely countryside as much as possible. We headed for Cornwall but got lost in Devon in (Dartmoor?) );

My favorite places were the Cotswold villages, especially Stowe on the Wold-I just loved the setting with the river bisecting the village and had my first cream tea there. Next, Warwick Castle, I thought it was very well done with the wax figure tableaus and stories. I just loved York, with the walk around the fortress walls and York Minster!

From York we went to Edinburg and back down the other side passing the Lake District (wish I'd seen more) until we departed from Manchester.

We stayed mainly in B&B's and had a wonderful time. Most memorable moments? Trying to figure out the different plumbing, seeing wonderful gardens, and trying out the different foods--no, no haggis!
