Mushroom Compost

Do any of you use mushroom compost? If you have any questions you might want to visit www.mushroomcompost.com

Yea, I put some on the vegetable garden this time last fall and had wonderful plants this summer. It gives good structure, and color also.

I used to use it. I loved how it improved the texture of my heavy clay soil. I stopped using it when I found out it was alkaline because my soil is already alkaline.

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

I "stumbled into" a pallet of the stuff this summer, with no clue what to do with it. After asking here on DG, and reading stuff on the web, I used it to build my new 'Fleur de Lis' garden. So far everything looks great! I still have a lot left over, and I'm using it here and there.

The main thing that sticks in my mind is that mushroom compost should never be more than 50% of the mix. I mixed in a lot of shredded oak leaves and then mixed it 50/50 with topsoil. ... And you shouldn't use it around Azaleas (due to the alkaline nature of the product). I presume I shouldn't use it to build a bed for Louisiana Iris, for the same reason.

All in all, good stuff.
