Forums listed in order put in?

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

I am wondering how everybody else would feel about having the order of the forums reversed so that the newest post was first and the original would be last. This makes sense to me, but I am wondering how everyone else feels about it?
I am not even sure if it is possible.
I find that I spend quite a lot of time scrolling down to the last post to see what was added.
Like I said maybe I am the only one this makes sense to!

When you click on a thread, just click "skip to new" and you will see the new posts to it without having to scroll through the whole thing.

Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Great idea.

Would make it much easier as the threads get longer.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

I don't know why I was not smart enough to see that listed up there!!!!
Somedays I do not know what I use for brains, but I will try to figure it out.
thanks

I have always used the Skip to New link but still think Newest Post on top makes more sense. It's not a big deal either way! lol

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

The skip to new feature is about the only thing I have mastered if you were to remove that feature I would be clueless. Ernie.

Western, PA(Zone 6a)

aknapp, don't feel bad. I never saw these choices on top either.LOL

I can't imagine going backwards. I would rather read the orginal messages, and then the replies in order.

Holland, MI(Zone 6a)

I learn something new every day! Thanks.

The skip to new feature is the only step of this forum business that I have mastered Ernie.

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

I like the top to bottom format for multiple post threads that I have not read. It follows the top to bottom reading flow where when you finish one post, you go to the next one, still continuing down like you would on a page.

My guess, if you had to read a long post and then figure out how far to scroll UP to get to the next post, it might be more frustrating whereas it's easy to gradually scroll down small increments as you are reading.

I do like the "skip to new" feature - especially given that it works even if you log on different computers.

Holland, MI(Zone 6a)

Yes. That is good and ok.

Well I am now feeling pretty dumb after using the "skip to new" button this afternoon and evening.

I don't suppose I can just make the original post disappear like magic. It will probably haunt me for a long time. (haha)

I really appreciate the folks who helped me out by mentioning they had not seen it either.

The really sad thing is I had been looking for something like that thinking that since everything here is so well done that there must be an option to reverse the order or jump down or something. It sure makes me wonder about my poor old eyes.
Thanks All

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

LOL aknkapp. It's not going to go away but you don't have to feel like it's going to haunt you. Those that sign onto DG after this will thank you for asking this question. I pondered over this for a time too before I figured it out, (the hard way).

I like the "skip to new" feature now. I use it like I do a bookmark in the latest novel I'm reading. If I'm watching/reading it, then I don't have to read all through what I've already read to find my new reading point.

On the same thought, I wouldn't want to start reading a thread/book from the end backwards either.

Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

After ruminating on all of our posts in this thread; I agree that it would be difficult to start reading a long thread backwards.

We don't need to change a thing!

It was a great question! Keep them coming! :)

When we change the forum language to Hebrew, then I will reverse the ordering. :-) I like to read my books beginning to end, and my threads from beginning to end.

Whewww!....
Glad to hear that, dave! ;>)

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Dave
I was really hoping after being so embaressed (spelling)about posting this in the first place I was really hoping that you wouldn't see it. (I should have known better)

After I discovered the skip to new button I realized how goofy I was for not seeing it in the first place.

Thanks
Alice

Don't worry Alice- we all still love you! The "skip to new feature" is my favorite!

Thanks Davena I needed that!!!!
Hugs back to you!!! I have myself all geared up for the years of teasing I am going to take about "skip to new."
I am sure lots of people will remember me now!!!
Have a great day all!!!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

heheheh...

♫♫Skip, skip, skip to the new...♫♫

♫Skip to the new, my darling! ♫

(Sorry aknapp, I just couldn't resist! ;>)

No, you are not the only one! You can see a post where I called a male user "she'! My huge embarrassment! And see how many others didn't know about the feature either. Long topic but it is 3/4 of the way down. LOL!

Yeah don't feel bad aknapp. When I first started using the forums I though the skip to new was to go to a new thread. When I clicked on it it went to where I left off....boy was that confusing for awhile. Then my daughter explained it to me, ugh, Beans for brains.........LOL....was my face red........ :o)

This is no doubt going to be one of those family stories that gets retold for generations to come. You know the ones I mean, and I guess now that I have a new family it is only appropriate that I give you a story.
Horseshoe I turned up the volume but I couldn't hear the singing.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Alice-I too asked Dave for a feature to show me new posts until he kindly and gently pointed out the "skip to new". Duh! I have a sneaky suspicion we're in good company. Brenda

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my...Welp, Alice/aknapp...reckon I better record the music/song and send it to ya. (Just hope my voice won't send your puter into shock. Just ask a few folks that have heard me sing...it ain't a pleasant voice!)

However, I like you and you are a great sport about me teasing you! Love it!

See ya round the site!
