How many states have you visited?

Western, PA(Zone 6a)

After responding to Joan on another forum, I began to count the states I have actually visited. 36 states, and hoping to see them all. I find it is difficult to visit the 'middle' states such as OK, Missouri, AK, Utah, Iowa, etc.

In counting the states, I didn't count airplane stopovers. And I didn't count the state of Washington from which I crossed over a bridge from Portland for a few minutes and then back.

How many have you visited?

Lenexa, KS(Zone 5b)

An interesting question, but my answer comes nowhere close to yours. Following your guidelines, I only came up with 18. But I hope to take many family vacations once my little one is older and add to the list.

You should really consider taking a trip out here to the midwest. I'm sure we have something here that you would enjoy!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I counted 34 states, and 10 provinces of Canada, all driving trips!! I consider the driving part of the vacation. I've never been out to the west coast of the US, and there's some where I've been to all the surrounding states, like S.C., but never been there. Someday, maybe I will get to all of them!!

I've been to 15 states also. I've never been west - only east to Spain and Africa.

Never been to the USA, but I've been lucky to be able to visit 24 European countries, some of them several times (+ India, UAE & Tunisia).

Western, PA(Zone 6a)

Many of the states I have been in, is because I was driving somewhere and passed through them. Like driving to California from Florida. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been to New Mexico. Which is a beautiful state. I detoured in NM to see the Carlsbad Caverns. But that's another story.

The 50 states is a goal I hope to meet.

Evert, to see that many countries would be special.

Nebraska (yeah I know NOW *G*)

What really got my goat was that it started snowing on the first morning I was there 2nd Dec and didn't stop until the day I left when it decided to rain 11th Jan. Everyone said they hadn't had snow in Omaha for two years ... lucky I took my best winter togs anyway. My lovely English rose skin flaked off, my lips were like potato chips and my poor hair beastie was like straw. I've never been anywhere so dry in all my life. Sales of mineral oil went up by 10% while I was there.

I will say though that the people were very warm and friendly even if I did have to produce my passport to prove my nationality on more than one occasion. Despite my accent, I'm definitely British ;) They really made up for the weather.

If I ever go there again, it'll be in the spring, at least some of the sights might be open then.

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I've been to Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and Illinois

Walkerton, VA(Zone 7a)

My job requires extensive domestic and international travel. Domestically, I've visited 24 states, 2 territories and DC. One of my favorite places is Adak Island, Alaska. It's way out in the Aleutian Islands. There are no native trees or land mammals there. There are Stellar sea lions, eared seals, sea otters, bald eagles, ravens, and rock ptarmigan galore to name a few native animals. The weather is vile and I love it. Gardens? No way - only what nature provides. I've visited 19 foreign countries from Spain to Singapore; Canada to Kenya; Many of them more than once. I've been to Diego Garcia, in the Indian Ocean 3 times. If I never visit another airport it will be too soon.

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

I have lived in Washington, Oregon, Alaska (by the way that is AK which I believe some folks used to designate Arkansas which I think is AR). Visited, Idaho, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, California, Virginia, plus British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan in Canada, and Mexico. I've ridden horseback extensively in Washington, Oregon and Idaho and really seen the back country in those states, along with one trip into British Columbia for endurance rides.

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

None.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

I've lived in Hawaii, South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, Idaho and have visited California, Washington state, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. That makes a total so far of 26 states that I am sure of ( visited a few more that I don't remember when I was a baby in the arms of my parents). Have also been in Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta Canada, Japan, and lived in Taiwan. We plan on traveling more when DH retires or when our son becomes rich enough to support us in the manner to which we would like to become accustomed.

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

The Midwest isn't all that bad! We take driving vacations.
Stay off of the interstates. So much to see along the small country roads. We usually go in November. Lots of harvesting & other farming things going on. Apple orcards to stop at, turning leaves everywhere. Have been to Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, & Iowa on these trips. Spent time in Alaska while in National Guard. Took driving trip one June to Canada.
We were in Ontario & Manitoba around Lake of the Woods, beautiful country. Not many places, but when you live in Minnesota there is not much reason to go elsewhwere.
Bernie

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Western, PA(Zone 6a)

Marksylvania? Markenshire?

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

I had myself up to 15 - RI ("They tell me I was born there, but I really don't remember..."), CT, MA, NY, NJ, DE, MD, PA, OH, WV(?), VA, NC, TN, KY, IN, and DC. We went catty corner through IL and MO looking at the Mississippi and the Ohio come together, but I'm not sure those two count. I've been to Canada - Ontario. I'm not sure about West Virginia, but I don't think I could have gotten to some of the other places without driving through. The conjunction of the Ohio and Mississippi is as far west as I've been and Fayetteville, NC is as far south. I'm assuming Rhode Island is as far east as I've been, but like I said, I wasn't very aware of my surroundings at the time. The entrance to the Cross Canada Highway north of Toronto is as far north as I've been. We drove some older friends up because they didn't feel up to driving through Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Hamilton, St Catherine, and Toronto before setting off for Saskatoon.

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

can I include altered state? LOL

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

lol, isn't that in my mailing address?

Bolton, Greater Manc, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)
