Yesterday , I spent an afternoon starting with lunch at a local restaurant and then my guest came to my house and we walked in the garden and visited. Such a wonderful visit and guest. And this guest was none other than our MaryE from the eastern half of Oregon. She brought me "Homestead Iris" and it was such a joy to be with this remarkable kind woman. I wish you could have joined us. Joann
A Delightful Afternoon
Doncha ya love cool treats like this? What an afternoon you had!!
What an absolutely lovely day the two of you must have had! Meeting DG friends is always such a treat.
Kewlio Joann...do you have pictures to share with us???
Mary took the pictures. I didn't have our camera available. She emailed me about putting something on the perenniels forum.
It certainly was a delightful afternoon from my point of view! Lenjo's gardens and farm are beautiful. She kept apologizing for things being not as pretty as they once were but they looked beautiful to me. She kept saying if you want some of this just say so, and I came home with a lot of starts of things I didn't have. The dahlias are still in bloom, past their prime but still quite a show. She has lots of roses, and so much variety of other things in beds all around her house! Tomorrow I'll be planting those new things, tonight they are sitting out in a light rain feeling quite at home. I used to live about 30 miles from her and now I live about 300 miles away. I'm just about 18 years late meeting her. Look for those pictures tomorrow. I had so much fun, thanks Joann. (my hubby thought the back seat of the car looked quite bushy!)
What fun to meet and enjoy the garden together.
Cheers,
Carol
Wow 2 great people got to meet. Thats so fun!
OH, WOW! I just love to hear that more DGers got to meet. I know I would have asked for starts fo any fruiting vine hardy in central MO(zone 5). LOL I'm so glad you got to spend time together. As far as beauty is concerned, it is in the eyes of the beholder.
Some of the photos are posted on the perennial forum. I didn't put them on the photo forum becasue they get buried too quickly on back pages there. Besides, a lot of what you'll see is perennials. I do think I will put one photo on the photo fourm to get people over to the perennial forum to look.
