Yesterday it looked and felt like any normal pre-fall day. Today, I swear most of the trees have lost half their leaves in just a few hours. No low temps, no wind.... just a constant rain of leaves.
Anyone else experiencing this?
All in just one day...
Same thing here in southern Indiana. Forecasters called for peak fall foliage next weekend, but with it raining leaves steadily, I doubt if we have a "Peak" foliage weekend. Last weekend the trees were beautiful! They turned quickly at the end of last week and are falling now. Weird! Lou
Here in Michigan it is much the same. It has rained all day today and its hard to tell which we are getting more of, raindrops or leaves.
It was a glorious day yesterday and I was out most of the afternoon enjoying it. Today the dog, the cats, and I have all been holed up in the house all day.

Same here in KY, but it has been raining most of the day and the wind is incredible. :)
Yesterday morning was fall as fall as you can get - high clouds, a bit of a breeze, the leaves that didn't get frosted were all lovely. I spent most of the morning in and out, cleaning things up, digging up tubers, just a lovely morning and early afternoon. By choretime, high winds and driving rain had moved in and it has been a ruckus all night. I think the leaf peepers will have missed it if they weren't out last weekend.
The leaves here are just turning brown and falling off of the trees. All my maples have lost about half of their leaves with no change in color, and normally they are gorgeous. And yesterday's high wind took a lot of the leaves off of the trees. So, I predict that we will have a minimal showing for fall foliage.
same here in michigan-we are having showers of leaves, I can now watch fot the bus without going outside-yeah!!!
In my part of Michigan the colors are spectacular. It rained all day yesterday and this morning you can hardly see grass for the leaves that fell . . . like a blanket of sunshine on the ground!
Torquay... what a lovely image..."like a blanket of sunshine on the ground!"
In my part of Michigan we still have lots of color. Just waiting for the rain to stop and the sun to shine. Our Maples seem to resist giving up their leaves. I am waiting for them, so that I can use my new shredder.
BIRD
Bird... I never got around to taking the blade off and sharpening the old shredder I bought used. If I can find it under all the leaves, maybe now's a good time to do it!
