Can someone tell me how long it takes to fly from one side to the other of the USA?
flying time across the USA
New York to Los Angeles non-stop is about 6 hours.
Paul
wow Atlanta to LA is only 4 or so. Hmm...quite a difference.
OK so 6 hours maximum. jus' scheming sumat in ma heed
thanks
Take into consideration that you take off at local time for that airport and land at local time for the other one too.By the hour,it takes more time to fly across country than by the clock.
Mel
I looked up a non-stop from LA to NY the times given are local at each end so you have to consider the difference in time zones.
Paul
OK...I hadn't checked it.Been some time since I've done the cross country thing.
It takes less time to fly west to east than it dose east to west
Just checked a couple of flights. It's 5 hours from LAX ( to JFK (east) and 6 hours in the other direction. So boxer is exactly right.
Yes, but Mark asked from one side to another. I believe you'd have to go from Caribou, Maine to LA. That could be a week LOL :)
True, he didn't specify nonstop. Good point. I once flew from Orange County (stopover in LA) to Cincinnati (stopover in Atlanta) and I thought it was going to take a week. I now only do nonstop. Take the shuttle to LA from this end if need be and rent a car at the other end from whatever airport is nonstop from LAX. I swear it takes less time and is less draining.
thanks for the input. I was thinking non stop but with so long in the air and then adding the journey home I wouldnt want to do it in one go.
you off to the States Mark? Not a shopping trip surely? Long way to go for a few plants !1 ...LOL
shopping is always the main agenda
One time I left Lisbon, Portugal at 8 am and arrived at JFK at 9 am ;D I loved only being an hour from Europe.
Mark, unless you are going from JFK to LAX, add at least an extra day to fly around the US. Almost no direct flights, except to and from the hub cities.
True story: to fly from Frankfurt, Germany to Columbus Ohio a few years ago, my parents: Left Frankfurt and flew to JFK (New York). A few hours layover, then scheduled to board a flight to Washington D.C. A few hours layover, then board a flight to Pittsburg, PA. An overnight layover, then a flight to Columbus, OH. So they were to spend 28 hours flying about 500 miles. And why more and more people refuse to fly anymore. My parents got off the plane in New York, got a motel room, then the next day rented a car and drove back to Columbus rather than hanging around the airports that long. It cost a few extra dollars, but definitely worth it! They are in their 70's!
