arm test

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I went today for the test on my arm that I broke back in April to determine the loss of use that had occured. After squeezing so much I thought I was an orange juice machine they told me that the strenght in my right arm registered on all the test in the vicinity of 140 and my left arm the highest it registered was 88 and most of them were in the 70's. They even measured the strength in my fingers and the only thing that measured close was the strenght in my thumb. The left was 27 and the right was 29. I don't know what course of action the doctor will take but I think I am going to ask for a second opion. They also told me today that they thought I had nerve damage but I had been tested several months ago and nothing showed up then.

Be patient, get another opinion!I hope you get back all you had!

Jim, a second opinion is always wise. Diagnoses are often different and treatment methods vary also. It is your arm and your future at stake so don't just ask for a second opinion...insist on it!

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Jim, good advice above!please take it.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Jim, praying you get the right answers and good treatment.

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 6a)

Yep..second opinion sounds right. Hopefully you can find a dr that will not take the other dr's opinion into consideration and will independently look into your weakness.

And after that 2nd doctor opinion, go to the Chiro--could be something pressing on that nerve.

Awww Jim! I can't add any advice that hasn't been given.

Big Hugs!!!

I started to ask for a second opinion earlier when one of the doctors told me the knots in my hand was callouses.(sp)
I told him that I hadn't done anything in 4 months how could that be callouses. We got in quite a discussion and finally he said he would let my regular doctor discuss it with me. A few minutes later my regular doctor came in and said it was palm faceitious (SP). I told him about the controversy with the other doctor and he said he would straighten him out. I am going to insist on a secnd opinion. I have been going to the Hughston Clinic in Columbus. It is known world wide. A lot of atheletes come her for treatment when they are injured. Maybe I ought to tell them I'm a basketball player. LOL They would tell me I'm a basket alright.

Jim, I know the Hughston clinic has a great rep, but found they treat ordinary people with suspicion. I didn't like them at all, I hope they do you right. Maybe a pro-basketball past might help?? LOL

Thanks tiG. I have passed all the info on to my employer about the service there and about the doctor I mentioned above. They also had a disagreement about my arm being broken in two places or three. The spot where one of them said was broken and the other one not is the spot that is giving me so much pain and soreness.

Jim, you can't go to another dr under your insurance? just for an opinion?

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Yeah I know and I will be doing that. Thanks

Jim - don't give up. I know a young man who was hit with a car while riding his bike. He was 23 yrs old at the time and was in a wheelchair for 2 years and told he would never walk again. He was determined to overcome his dissability through intensive therapy, and did!!

His name is Alan Bobb (spelling?) and is now a well known body builder here in GA. He has won many awards and titles in competition. Alan now works with seniors and people who have had strokes, accidents, etc.

Second opinion, definitely. I'm praying for you to be led to the best doctor for your situation, and that insurance will cover your visit.
