New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Sweet&Low
Equal
Splenda

I like the most is Splenda taste like real sugar and never see any restaurant has Splenda so I use Sweet&Low instead Equal not hardly taste flat so I love Splenda for my Ice Tea with peppermint leaf so good.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Sweeteners aren't really used in Finland, we use good old fashioned sugar. It costs about 80 cents to 1 € = 93 ¢ to 1.18 $ for a kilogram (2.20 ounces) here.

I like Splenda too Redrose, I think it's made from sugar

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

I get terrible headaches from Nutrasweet (equal) and steer clear of things that cause cancer even in small doses if possible (Sweet n Low). I LOVE Splenda and request it in restaurants that don't carry it... I carry a little tin of it in packets in my purse.

I also like natural stevia leaves - I grew it this year and it is starting to bloom right now. It is deliciously supersweet and all you need is a leaf or two.

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

I have use all the above from time to time. In the winter I drink alot of hot tea...and tea blends... If I buy a substitute it is splenda. To me it taste the closest to real sugar, I prefer that above all..........
:o)

I like Splenda, too. We get a low-fat, no-added-sugar ice cream called Pierre's Slender that is made with Splenda. It is FABULOUS, with really chocolatey chocolate flavors! http://www.pierres.com

Honor, MI(Zone 5b)

Nothing but the real stuff for me...it may be packed with calories, but I don't use sugar that much (coffee and the occassional pie or cake), and when I do, I use "raw sugar"....I don't trust the artificial sweeteners...I also use locally made honey and homemade maple syrup, for sweetening, too...

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Has to be the real thing for me too. Artificial sweetners give me bad headaches. Not sure why but even foods and soft drinks with artificial sweetners do the same thing. Weird Huh?

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I don't use much sugar in anything so when I want to sweeten something I use real sugar. Once in a while Equal. But isn't Splenda made from real sugar? I can't figure out how they get the calories out of real sugar.

St. Louis, MO(Zone 6b)

In the infirmary dining room we have three choices, pink package (artificial), blue package(artificial) and white (real sugar). If one of the old men ask me the difference I tell them that the pink is for the women, the blue is for the men and the white is for those who don't know the difference :-) We use a lot of blue.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Pink for Woman > Blue for Men > Yellow for Unisex. LOL just kidding!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

When one is a diabetic, have to use something other than the good old stuff. (I am a bad diabetic, cause I love sugar, but......:) ), there is one more thing that works as well as Splenda. It is called Sweet One. Both Splenda and Sweet One can be used in baking. It does not break down and has no bitter after taste. And when I make my no-sugar added jams, I use one packet of Splenda in each jar, as well as unsweetened apple juice in the whole batch. It sells like hotcakes :) Kathy

Have you all read the warning on the sugar substitutes? It is the real thing for me or nothing. I drink only iced tea, NO sugar of any kind, and lemon. Takes about a week to get used to it with no sugar, then you'd never want it any other way. That other stuff can kill you. A friend with liver cancer tells me his liver burns on fire, if he so much as gets an accidental sip of diet soda.

A natural alternative is stevia, but I do not like that taste, not sure how healthy it would be either.

One more thought, the amount of sodium in a diet soda is enough to retain more water weight than the weight you would gain from the sugar in a regular soda.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Pardancanda you are so right about iced tea being deliciious with just lemon in it. Lime is very refreshing in it also. As for the pop, you are correct about that, too. To the best of my knowledge the only king of pop that has no sodium is Diet Rite. There may be others out there but I'm not aware of them if there are.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

My husband not use none of any sugar or else for Ice Tea and I only use drink Diet Rite not always mostly drink more often Water and Ice Tea every now then.
