USPS Priority Mail Supplies

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

If you go to the US postal service web site you can order priority mail items that they will ship directly to you at no charge.
They have all sizes of boxes, tape, and labels. It took me a while to set up an account and to get it accomplished after I found what I was looking for, but it was worth it because the small town I live in usually doesn't have much variety in sizes to pick from.
I was able to locate what I wanted on their site by doing a search on the side for priority mail supplies and it came up with what I wanted.
Hope this helps any of you in small towns that don't have access to the size boxes that you need.

Good suggestion. This isn't only for small towns. I'm in a city of about 100K and the post offices there have confirmed that they can't get supplies except the bare basic priority box. I had a co-op recently and ordered supplies for delivery, and when I was done, the local PO was happy to get my extras.

The post office people here have been really nice and very helpful but I am guessing they don't even know that this is a service that is offered by USPS because the people I have talked to here have all felt badly because they had such a small amount of selection.
And like I said it wasn't the easiest site I have ever navigated through but I sure was excited to be able to order the two sizes of boxes that I had been wanting and to get labels and tape.

I hvordering and recieving for yrs this way. My mailman brings them right to the door, so much easier than going to the post office everytime I need a box!

My postmaster said that USPS only send her the sizes of boxes that they want to send. She can't even order the other sizes from them. She went online and ordered different sizes and had them sent to her home, then brought them to the p.o. She is glad to get the extra's or have other people order and take them to the p.o.

I supply our PO with boxes. In a small town they can't order any boxes at all. Whenever I order, I order extra for them. They are always glad to get them.

The only problem with ordering the free boxes is it takes SO LONG to get them. I'm just not organized enough to know three weeks ahead of time what boxes I'll need.

I order ours that way, too. Another service they offer is free delivery confirmation if you print your mailing label (with or without postage) online. I have a 5lb postage scale and buy postage/print labels for packages at the USPS website. It's so handy!

Gardenwife
I have been thinking about getting a scale any ideas where is the best place to find one?
Do you feel like it was a worthwhile purchase?
Thanks

I got the stuff I ordered today, I am amazed that it didn't take even longer. I know now what to do if I have more than I can use, I am sure our post office would be glad to get it.
Thanks

Your very welcome ladies, I was really excited when I came across it and realized it was free. Be sure and also get tape and labels.
The site was not the easiest to navigate but its worth the trouble you have to go through to get to it. (or maybe it was just me) I kept clicking on the wrong things) I am such a happy little clicker!!

LOL well I've been clicking away at this thing for at least 20 minutes.....and now the site to order is shut down or timed out for security reasons.......huh.....go figure.....LOL
I will try again later. You have to register or you can't get into anything nowadays.........

This USPS link works without the need to register. Everything is right there: http://shop.usps.com/cgi-bin/vsbv/postal_store_non_ssl/home.jsp?appName=SSOL

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Anyone know how long it takes to actually receive this stuff?

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Took me about 4 weeks.......got the tape and lables first and then the boxes about 2 weeks later.......and they sent the wrong size boxes........LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I ordered some around the same time as you guys started this thread, and ya know, they never sent it......I just reordered.
I was having trouble on the site finding the boxes I wanted, had to punch in priority mailing supplies......

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

I kept clicking on express mail items instead of priority the first time, so don't feel bad.
I am so sorry that you didn't get your first order. Did you get a confirmation from them after you placed the order.
If I remember right I got one right away in my email?

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes they are suppose to give you a confirmation number....I got one.....maybe your order didn't go in correctly....Have you recived your second order.........LUK??????

A few things to keep in mind about the USPS supplies:

1) The supplies can only be used to send via Priority or Express Mail; you can't use them to send regular ol' US mail or UPS;

2) They sent me a postcard I had to sign and send back to confirm I agreed to their terms of use; and

3) Once you're set up with an account, it takes 10 days-2 weeks to receive supplies (that's average; I've gotten mine sooner most times, but I think it depends on how close you are to their distribution centers.)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I have an account and have never had a problem getting the boxes before,I swear I got a confirmation but I can't find that I filed it anywhere.......so maybe I didn't....But I know I ordered cause my DH was watching me,and there were certain boxes he needed...and still needs

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

CC, I'd reorder - if you wind up with too many extras, your local postmaster (especially if it's a small P.O.) would probably be GRATEFUL to take the excess off your hands.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Thats what I did this AM,but ya know ,this thread is what keeps reminding me.......LOL

And yes ,the local PO loves me to order boxes cause I always share with them....

Brooklet, GA(Zone 8a)

i usually get mine in 7 to 10 days
