In joining a Secret Christmas Ornament Exchange?
It's just like a secret plant exchange, only with Christmas Ornaments...

I've been doing this for several years with my "mommy" group, and those ornaments are among the most cherished I have.

I thought I’d throw it out here and see if there is enough interest to do it.

If there is, We can draw names by the end of October, and have the ornaments sent right around Thanksgiving, since that is when most put their Christmas Trees up. That gives almost a whole month for selecting that perfect ornament and getting it in the mail.

We normally put a limit of 5.00 on the ornaments.
You can put your name in twice if you want, that means you’ll be sending out two ornaments, and you’ll be receiving two ornaments. We can also do a "Kids" Exchange, if you have kids who would enjoy doing it.

The ornaments should be received no later than December 1.

Dave’s garden Subscribers only.

You must be in good standing with any co ops or trades you’re currently involved in.

Anyone interested?

Melissa

Absolutely. I love ornaments. I have been collecting since I was a kid. I have gotten to the point that I only buy glass Icicles for myself now. I have over 200 of them. There is an older man who lives about 20 miles from me that makes them. An ornament from a fellow DGer would be special indeed.

(Zone 5b)

Sounds like lots of fun!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Count me in!!!! Sounds like "The Secret Pal" thing we had going at work. Get a card from your secret pal (they have cards at the card store for this) and they send for like your birthday, anniversary, halloween, valentines...well this is off of what youre doing but hey...the thought just entered my brain and had to get it out there LOL...hence my nic...GABBY on the end eh? lol

Im in though...another idea if ya wanted it hehehe

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I'm in too. This brings back fond memories to me. Let me know the final details and I'll get in. Thanks for the great idea.

Annabellegabby, exact same premise as the Secret Sister, but we found that the Secret Sister exchange was really hard to keep up with. A few would have terrific Secret Sisters, and a few would have really lousy secret sisters, not because they were bad people, but just because they'd forget a lot of times to send things, even cards... so we just went to the Ornament Exchange, and it's worked really well. And those ornaments really do take on a special meaning. :-)

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

we have been doing one here at daves for the past 2 yrs also we have had a secret santa exchange here, and lots of other exchanges!
The ornament exchange is usually posted in the farm forum and we do a buy or make your ornament!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

This is an adorable idea!!!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

I'd love to be part of this. How fun to have a "national" and "international" tree (ornaments from all over) :) Kathy @ Misty Meadows Farm

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

My 11yr old DD would love to do this. Anyone else have a rugrat that would like to exchange with her?

Melissa, members or subscribers?

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Good point frogs, SUBSCRIBERS.... I'll fix that.
Kids of Subscribers would be good too.

Notmartha, I didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. If I am, I'll gladly let whoever normally does it, do it.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Melissa, Sounds like a great idea! I have been collectin ornaments on my travels all over the world for over 30 years now. It would be nice to find a "Dave's Garden" ornament added to my memories.

Mobile, AL(Zone 8b)

I's like to join in.

Besides, we can always use new ornaments to replace the ones that broke when the tree was pulled down by a dog, child or ferret...

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Oh how true Wanda... Cats here... they like to climb the tree.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Oh Boy, sound like just my thing......count me in too...How do we do this?.......do we need to e-mail you our Addy? Can these be hand made or do they have to be purchased?
Dee

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

They can be anything you want. Some of the most precious ones I have are home made. One year one of my girlfriends knitted little tiny mittens as ornaments, they are adorable!

Lisa, are you SURE that I'm not invading, or stepping on toes?

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

No, Melissa! no way..lol. I just can't do it this year, it was too much last year. I sent you an email.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Janice, I have five daughters! LOL I am sure we could line up one or all of them for this. :)

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

That is why I asked. The plants always come for me so Miss Fiona wanted to be in on this one. Mail with your own name is better always! Need a spare 11 going on 21 year old? I will send you one! But not for long. She really is a good kid. I will keep her.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well shoot, we can mail her plants too if she is into that sort of thing! LOL

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Mrs. claus wants in on this one too. Count me in twice as this is my favorite time of year and the more involved I get the more in the spirit it puts me. HO! HO! HO! ;~]
Jan

San Diego, CA(Zone 10a)

My Garden Fairy? She is my chief flower planter and bug stomper. She is my helper (especially if there is mud involved). She has too if'n she wants flowers and tomatoes year round. Any girl that likes the smell of composted steer manure is a certified gardener. Lol.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Frog, does Fiona have a plant/seed wish list? You are in a much better zone than I so we probably have something for her. LOL E me!! Sorry, I will get off this thread now. LOL

I skipped out of the office yesterday for a trip to the Amanas with some visiting Texas friends. I found the PERFECT Dave's Garden ornament for the Ornament Exchange.
