Help! I can't put pictures on DG

Dave,
For the past two weeks I have tried several times to post pictures on DG. I get to the preview button, click on it, and I get a pop-up (the length of my screen). I click off of the pop-up because it doesn't go away, but then it brings up their page and I lose all my text and my picture. What could be happening here? I have several roundup pics I wanted to post, but can't do it :(

Help...but I'm computer illiterate :)

Kathy, first a few questions?
What type of pop-up message are you getting?
Is it an error message or advertisement?
What browser are you using (IE, netscape,...)?

Note that with dial-up, depending on the size of your picture, it may take several minutes to upload your picture to DG.

It sounds like you have some virus or spyware program on your computer. We don't have any popup advertisements on DG.

Pano...I am getting advertisements. They cover 1.5 inches of the entire bottom of my screen. A few weeks ago I had one from paramountlists.com. I wrote to them angry as a wet hen! I had two different ones yesterday, can't remember what companies they are. I downloaded pop-up stoppers, which locked up my computer so bad, I had to delete it. But it won't completely delete from computer. I have tried everything. I have Norton's AntiVirus and have just renewed it, a month ago. The program I use is Microsoft IE, and I do get a lot of pop-ups, but only on Dave's Garden, when I try to upload a picture does this particular type happen.

I do have dial-up and I realize that it sometimes takes a while, but this just completely shuts down DG for me. It knocks me completely off DG and it is the only place I experience this and only when trying to post a jpg photo.

Dave, I thought it was a bit strange, but I get a lot of pop-ups while on DG and have heard from others that they get them also. I do ScanDisk twice a week on schedule and then just scan in between for the heck of it. There are so many viruses out there and a few years ago I had quite a mess with a virus, so I am very careful. :) Kathy

If you use google toolbar, it has an option you can download that stops popup almost 100% It is the ONLY popup stopper I use.

lets try another pop-up killer which also adds the google toolbar to your Browser.

Next get a spyware/adware removal tool, install and run it.

Then try again to post a picture (you can do it in here) and we'll go from there.

Kathy, regarding the pop-up's...Do you use Windows 2000 or Windows XP, by chance? You may need to disable the Messenger Service (not to be confused with MSN Messenger). See this thread: http://davesgarden.com/t/380770/

Pano, I don't understand which version of the ad aware to download from the hyperlink you sent me.

Any of the AdAware 6 listed.
They are all the same program, just different download sites.
