Trade list: How do I remove subcategories?

I'd like to just have the categories Plants and Seeds listed on my trade list without all the other subcategories. But I can't seem to delete the subcategories. Is it possible to delete the empty subcategories while leaving the main category in place? The main category, Plants , does have items in it. Thanks.
