L'Amour

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 8a)

Hi
I am in search of some L'Amour cuttings. I am willing to pay for the cuttings. Could someone please share. If you have some to share please email me off list.
Thanks
Cindy

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm searching also, but haven't had any luck. I certainly would want to pay for them. Maybe someday my little brood will include L'Amour and Rothkirch.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

They are so new. And they seem harder to root then the usual at least for me. I just finally got my backups of each rooted. Everyone that has them is trying to get some rooted up to share. It just takes awhile for the ripple effect to spread out.

I am sure next summer they will be more available. Also there are L'Amour seeds out there blooming as we speak that will be available. Some have incredible color also. I just saw a new one that will knock your socks off!

So try to be patient! I know it is hard but it will be worth it.

the only ones who have lamour are i believe kell and calalily, besides catmeow's baby one. some of us have been trying to get this one for years.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I actually saw a cutting with my name on it once! so close....

Gorgeous Kell!

Thankfully Susie is incredibly generous and does not believe in keeping the special ones only for herself and a few. Lots more now have this one and in the spirit of what Susie is about, we all are trying to share this special one further out in the circle of brug lovers.

We were lucky also that Susie is a whizz at propagating! This one is the key to a whole new colorful generation of brugs for us here in the US. The more that have it, the more crosses that will be made. Susie also spread her L'Amour seeds far and wide. Things are definitely coming up pink all over!!

except in my yard....LOL!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I think that's been the message of this forum and all it's members since the beginning. Way before L'amour, when everything was special, everyone here has shared what they have.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Speaking for myself, I certainly agree with that statement, Bonnie. I've got brugs rooting in one whole corner of our covered patio. I've purchased some of them, but the majority have come from generous people on this forum. I just wish my backyard was about 200' deep, and I could make a really long alley leading from the patio to the back fence. I'd copy yours, so everyone could tell me what a pretty alley I had too. LOL

ahh, thanks:)

tiG, when I send you that special cutting (Antique Lace) that you wanted, instead of sending postage . . would you send me a cutting of Georgia Peach? I don't have that one would really like to see it bloom in person. After almost 2 years at Dave's this will be the first time you and I have exchanged cuttings.

You are right about many of us sharing what we have with everyone including the newbies.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

At best all I can do is put you on the list, hon. The list is long, I sent the only cuttings I had to Eric. I have some others maybe you'll be interested in :)

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i shovel pruned antique lace. you don't even want to know what else i shovel pruned, ain't telling....lol also gave away tiara and creamsickle. Susie sent me a lamour cutting twice but both rotted, too late in the year and too green i guess. anyone comes to my house they can have 99% of anything i have, i just can't make time to mail out cuttings all the time. maybe if i had all my plants planted, and weeds pulled, and didn't work and have kids games to go to.....

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Kell is right it is worth the wait! Frannie I can send you Ga. Peach with your others. All my Cala-babies are rooting out nicely, and L'Amour babies seem to root out better than she does, I have only made two attempts at rooting L'Amour, once because the wind broke off a huge section (that one had a few small roots) and another piece that broke off that was real small, and I just stuck it in the pot with the mother plant and forgot it thinking it would never root! This was my first ever L'Amour bloom earlier this summer.

Isn't that just a beauty? Some day........

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Tracey, thank you so much about your offer of Georgia Peach. I sure would like for you to send it with my others. Your L'Amour is gorgeous and you have had so mmany beautiful seedlings of Cala's that bloomed at 4-4 1/2 months. I can remember when everyone was trying for seedlings that bloomed within a year of planting the seed. Cala has taken us a long way in a short time and you have shown us some of those beauties that you grew from her seeds. Tracey, I appreciate your sharing and I will have to think of something to do in return for you.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Oh, Suzie, I had been so busy with family stuff that I did not even realize that the L'Amour you gave me had a bud, and this morning what a surprise I had - a beautiful bloom!!! Just cannot believe how pretty it is. Thank you so much. I needed that happy!!

Hi Miss Roz,
Glad to see you have your head above the water.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Roz, what a wonderful way to start a day . . to see a L'Amour bloom. I hope you and Gloria are having beautiful weather like I am. I am glad that things are slowing down and getting better for you. I will see you and Gloria and Barbara very soon. Hopefully, you not be taking a trip at that time.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Roz, you lucky dog to have a L'Amour. Take care of it and maybe one day we can do a trade. Let it get big before you take cuttings. I'd hate to see you lose it from chopping on it. Seems to be a tricky one for most people. Hope you will get the camera out. We all love to see L'Amour.

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 8a)

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee add me to the L'Amour cutting list.
Cindy

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

My L'Amour is still really small. It will need to grow some before I can take cuttings. I will fertilize it a lot!

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 8a)

I'll be waiting Roz. LOL!
Cindy

I'll try and start some cuttings but I'll let y'all know how they do....I don't want to promise out any yet till I see if I can root them.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, you are the nicest person i have ever known. I hope you are having a good time with your babies.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It would be a treasure to have. Another great brug. I was so sad when mine died. I guess this is one we don't want to take for granted.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Maybe a dumb question, but I am curious to know if anyone has tried to air layer L'Amour? Nope, I don't have it either. LOL I do have some very nice offspring though, courtesy of Susie of course. :) My seedlings are only three months old so maybe I will see them bloom by Christmas?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I think we'll all line up if it works for you Glory. thanks for trying. Chele, that's a good idea! hope you have wonderful blooms for your Christmas present.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Kell, that is one beautiful brug.

Tlynn, and so is that one. I am now waiting for next season to see some of my seedlings bloom. Hope they aren't all white ones, Donna

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks Donna, I agree it is just a great one.

I do believe it was Susie who got her hands on this brug first here. Glory's even came from Susie. She sent it to Tracey to grow out and Tracey put it on her special steroid diet and sent Glory a HUGE bush with buds!!! Be still my heart.

I started growing one even earlier than Tracey did, for Glory and mine tried to die after rooting and had to be cut back and rerooted. My pathetic cutting is only about 2 inches tall now. LOL. Thank God for Tracey! I think I need a refresher brug course from Tracey or Cala.

Soon I bet we have a new and improved L'Amour we all will be clamoring for! I sure hope so. The RK X L'Amour and the L'Amour X RK seedlings hopefully will be too pink too handle! LOL

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Kell, i think you are right. the new ones are coming so fast and furious, lamour will probably almost be like frosty in a year or two. It's also great to be able to get pollen from overseas, trying to decide what to put my rubirosa on.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

gosh arlene, if I hadn't already used my pollen, I would have put it on Mountian Magic, that would have been a great cross.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

tig,i'll check what i still have, let you know in a few.....

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

esmeraldas and rubirosa heading your way. you are much better at pollinating than i am.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh can you imagine? cool, thanks!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gee, are you allowed to receive Euro pollen? We were told not to discuss it in public. The same viruses the US is trying to prevent from entering the US thru brugs can come in thru pollen also we were told. Maybe the rules have changes in the last months?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i guess ignorance is bliss, thanks for the heads up.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

gee, the abads site says that pollen is legal. unless they took it off the site.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

yeah, here: "no restrictions on pollen" http://www.americanbrugmansia-daturasociety.org/trades.htm

I saved it in case things change and we need to refer back to it:)

Boy, wish I was good at pollinating flowers. All I could ever pollinate was human babies, and I finally had to get unpollinated in order to stop while I was ahead. LOL
