name needed for a new (real) gardening group

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

The Hardy Plant Society doesnt have a group in Northern Ireland. A letter was sent to all local members of the HPS to see if they would like to form an informal local group. 14 out of 28 have so far said yes.

We dont want to be call the Hardy Plant Society Ulster Group so need a good querky name to go by. It still has to abide by HPS rules so cant be too extreme.

What do you suggest?

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

I'd suggest asking your members.

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

The two of us who formed the group are trying to come up with something before the first meeting.

What does the Hardy Plant Society say to not including their name, but using their ground rules?

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

We dont want to be a formal group but want to try and follow their ways maybe not so much the rules. One thing we will be doing is at every meeting we will bring in 2 plants from our gardens talk about them and pass them to another person. That way we all go home with something different.

Hmmmm, that's almost as awful as the 'Mammal Matters, Mammals Matter' that I came up with for our SE conf. But I hadn't had any wine this time LOL

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

hi i came up with this.
h.o.p.s.
hardy offshoot plant society
or
hardy outgrowth plant society
both meaning a lateral shoot from the main stem of the plant.
i also thought of h.i.p.s. but i couldn't come up with something as catchy in the garden terms.

let us know what you decide to name your group.

IHOPS? No that is taken.:)

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

noted also for tonight. HIPS sounds good If we can come up with something to go with it.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Hardy in Ireland Plant Society

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

it's too close to the name we want to avoid - the Hardy Plant Society

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

It just covered the HIPS thing

Pass the Perennial Ulster Circle could be PPUC (an ageless sprite, if you've read your Shakespeare) - well, he was Puck, but near enough

I hesitate to suggest Pass the Hardy (Plant) Ulster Circle as this might be open to misinterpretation

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

oops didnt even notice. silly me

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Men of Ulster Plant Society?
