The schools where ....

.. I had my early education. It is called "Christ the King Convent". It will celebrate its 60th year next. I was here from 1963-70 and have some wonderful memories --from class 1 to class 7. The girls continued till 10th and all the boys were separated at this stage. Many got scattered. I spoke about me gathering a lot of the 'lost' classmates in some thread last year and all of us were here when we were kids and I was contacting them after 3 decades.

After that, many boys from that school joined here to this school - Sarada Vilas High School. It is near that convent. Both are 10 minutes walking distance from home. There is a vast playground behind that building there. It's an old building. My uncle and my father studied here too.

I was there yesterday just before the school opening time. Mid-term exams are on. My memories jogged 3 decades backwards.

How wonderful for you to have your education Christian orientated. A Christ centered heritage is such a blessing. We sent all of our children to church based schools for various lengths of time. Never regretted a minute of the extra time and effort. It meant I had to work at least part time for a few years but that was always a good experience too. When we homeschooled grandchildren we always used a Christ centered, Bible based cirriculum.

Doesn't it feel wonderful and strange to return to a place and hav the memories of youth flood back to the surface! Have you been sucessful in locating many of your former classmates?

Yes indeed, this school is close to our hearts. We have learnt so many good things in our formative years. The atmosphere was so likeable. The discipline, the teachers (both nuns and others)... all together made the time worth it. I was creating a lot of fuss to go to school in the lower classes and my mother had a torrid time!! All our classmates have great sentiments about this great Convent. Even my aunt studied in this school in the mid-40s when it was just formed, but in another small building. I really enjoy reminiscing those wonderful days.
