My new chipper present to myself

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Okay guys now that I have this I need to know what I can do with it!!!!! According to the instructions it says that anything found in the yard normally can be put through it, but I have 7 bags of leftover straw that I would like to mulch and would prefer not to break the thing before I get it broken in!!! Please advise. It is a yardman 5.5 h.p. Briggs and Stratton Motor that is supposed to do up to 2 inch limbs.
Thanks in advance for all of your help.

I have a 5 HP Craftsman chipper that has a chute for small limbs (up to 3 inch dia.) and a hopper for twigs and yard waste. You need ear plugs and safety glasses before operating it. It works pretty well but wet materials will clog the flails especialy if fed too fast. Mine has a bagger to capture the miulched materials. Dry straw throught the hopper would present no problem. I find it helpful to lop branches down into straight pieces to facilitate feeding them into the chipper chute.

Try to avoid anything wet. Very green, or very stringy (palm, yucca, flax, etc) will clog it up and/or bind up the flailing thingies that break up the greenery & small twigs.
Ditto on the earplugs and safety glasses and gloves.

Thanks Guys
I mulched up 4 bags of straw this afternoon and yes used earplugs and safety glasses plus the gloves. I had a really good time other than the bag needed to be empty frequently and I got filthy, but that is not at all unusual!!! I am really most impressed with the fact that I have been able to start it by myself, which is incredible. I can't start the lawnmower without my sons help, but this started really well. I will be careful of the wet stuff, on Tom Clothiers web site he says that when he is doing green stuff he always mixes it with dryer stuff to make it easier, but I may not try that because I think his had a bigger motor.
Thanks for all the assist!!!
