Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen
Not meaning to offend anyone....
No offense taken here, earthling. It is very accurate.
I'm with you earthling, it's a sad day when we can't speak our minds or verbalize our thoughts.
What you posted is the truth. Admittedly many are offended by the truth, but that is their problem and they need to face reality.
Not offened by yours i hope you arent by mine:
But there is a difference in public school and procioal schools-thats where the choices are made.
I think God is listening all the time and that If you want to pray bow your head and close your eyes and talk to him. Its not against the rules to do it on your own. It does not have to be a public display.
Im sorry but I agree with the seperation! The only prayer we had at school when i was younger was over lunch-kids can still do that on their own!
If your child wants to pray before they eat their lunch-bow your head n pray. my family does it at resturants!
If the teacher in a public school wants to pray before their class arrives go ahead we all should pray all the time, just do it before students arrive.
Parents pray with your kids before you send them out the door for the day.
I dont want my kids learning a prayer that other religons use or one that is repetitive.
I think God starts in our homes first of all! :)
I am a product of parochial school for my high school years, public school for my younger grades. All I can say is I am very glad I am not raising kids in these times. I would be worried sick about what they have to put up with on a daily basis. My granddaughter's middle school has to have police there on a daily basis to keep fighting down to a minimum. This is something they have to put up with daily. Things are not better these days..give me the 'good old days' any time..
it says in the bible the last days will be filled with wickedness. Im glad i live in a rural area! We dont have much trouble even at the highschool level-YET!
I went to both puplic n private schools too! :)
boarding academy 9&10th grades
church school 1,4,7,9,10 the rest public school
Church every saturday no matter what school! :)
family worships everynight too!
Bible drills were the funnest!
Earthling, that said it all!!! This is EXACTLY why America is destroying herself today!! Where did you get that? If you made it up yourself you have awesome talent!!!!
Well, if I may add a bit about books and their covers....
I know some VERY good people who just happen to fit the classic definition of "freak". In fact, I worked with a young man once that I would have had a FIT if he had showed up at the door for one of my daughters- tattoos, piercings, different colored hair every day, you name it. But he turned out to be one of the most helpful, kindest, funniest, most personable young men that I think I have ever met.
And it was perfectly respectable citizens-- those nice looking, clean cut men in suits that caused the downfall of Enron and all of those other companies a year or more ago.
Just remember that. ;-)
My little town is exceptional by design......we allow prayer at school meetings, pep rallies, etc.....on our home ground. That is the problem with our country, they're trying to take God out of everything....which by the way, rightfully belongs to him.
"eyes"
Whose prayer do you chose? We havve more than 10 religions, many not Christian, at our school.
I take exception to most of the above posts. Furthermore, I believe that even though DG is a Christian web site, we can respect other faith traditions.
In my opinion the younger generations are not nearly as bad as the poem portrays. With advanced technology comes more openess which can be both good and bad, but I personally know too many young people to characterize them as irresponsible.
I believe that nothing can remove God or prayer from my sacred being. God's word dwells within me, and not on some wall plaque in a public building.
Contrary to public consensus, the United States of America was never founded as a Chrisian nation. If it is so important to have prayer in public schools and "In God We Trust" on our currencies, why then is God ignored in many other facets of day to day life?
heres a GREAT site:

you might reconize the person that set this site up!
