This site has been my ruination!!!! THANKS!!!

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Okay I have now been up since 4:30a.m. and it is 11:a.m. now I had intended to get a lot done today and instead I have wondering this site and links from this site, and just ordered a lot of seeds from T's. Everyone on this site has been so kind and wonderful, as well as generous of spirit my heart is overwhelming. I feel like a kid in a candy shop that has been let loose to roam around too long sampling everything there is!!!!! I thank all of you who have helped me with information and seeds that I did not have, I am looking forward to being able to have wonderful things for all of you in the future. I had hesitated about joining this site and part of what I want to say is that this has been the best money I have ever spent!!!!! Thanks Again Alice Knapp

aknapp, I have been a member for about 2 years, and it is easy to spend a lot of time with DG and all the great people involved. I spend more time than I should just because there is so much to learn and so many people so kind and helpful. It is now almost 8:30 my time and has warmed up enough outside so that i won't need a jacket to work. So I better get out there soon. Welcome to you Donna aka rutholive

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

I agree with you, aknapp. I have to figure out how to cut back on all the threads I watch here or I will never get any actual gardening done! But how can I resist? This place is full of information, friendship, comedy, spirituality, drama, support, resources, etc. Much better than tv. In fact I have not watched tv since I joined in March. Oh dear, I have become a DG junkie! Is there any cure?

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

Checking DG first thing in the AM can be a mistake ...

I'm guilty of lingering too long at DG, too. But I'm not remorseful, not sorry at all!

Hi, Alice - Welcome! DG is our homepage away from home and the internet friendships we've made here have spilled over into flesh-and-blood life. I said it two years ago and I'll say it again, I've never found an online community like this. Isn't it great? :)

I tell EVERYONE about Dave's. Even people who don't garden, because you never know in a conversation when they can pull that tidbit of info and look like a really well rounded guy. LOL

ALICE - You belong to the right support group, but if anything your addiction to DG will worsen. (;>)

Isn't it great! I am not addicted....I just pop in when I wake up...and when I am supposed to be cooking...or cleaning...or before work...and after work...and in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping...BUT I am not addicted! Well...maybe just a little bit addicted to all the great people here....OK ! OK! I AM A DG ADDICT but if there is a cure....keep it a secret cause this is one addiction I plan to continue!

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

I agree with all of you, I have never felt more welcome than the first time I sent a note to someone on this site. I remember one time when I was a nursery called God's Green Earth which was very early on in my growing experiences (which are still pretty limited by the standards I see here) the lady who owned the store told me that gardeners were by far and wide the nicest people in the world!!!! I don't know that I really understood that until now. I also would have to give another hats off to Dave because this site is so well managed and every item no matter how small is given consideration, and I am also sure that is a large part of why everyone is so happy here. Okay I am going to log off now so that I can get some things ready to send out that I should have done this morning instead of buying more stuff.

Aknapp,Only thing that makes it better, drink that first cup of coffee out of a Daves mug!!!
This is the first place I look in the morning, and the last at night,Welcome to Daves,I am from just south of Alpena.

Holland, MI(Zone 6a)

Hey Root - Did you become a Michigander? Or is there an Alpena in Kansas?

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

I have to agree with all of you....I can't wait to turn on my computer when I wake up and hear all that is happening in DG. And yes, I do tear myself away to make coffee and come back and join in again. The hours have a way of passing by...I have to literally pull myself away from the forums!
RootMD....is there really a DG coffee mug???
Can't wait until winter, when the weather will be too bad to spend time out doors, then I won't have to feel guilty for spending my time on the computer.
Margie in SJ

Yes, I want to know if there is a mug too!!!

I check Dave's first thing in the morning, then after I do dishes, after I make the bed, after I put in the wash, and after everything I do.....so see I get my work done and still keep in touch....now if I can figure out when I can get some more sleep....LOL...I have sworn off on the weekends if hes home, and that keeps him on my half happy.... :o)

I have it so bad I had to have cable internet put in!!

Davena

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm bugging my cable company every week to see when the Cable internet service is availabel "Should be sometimes next month" they have said since May...I went from Road Runner to Dial up when we moved.......geeeze sending photos is forevvvvvvvvvvver and if you send two you better pack'um a lunch. :o)

Holland, MI(Zone 6a)

WW - I agree that cable internet service is great, and I hope your cable net work is beter capitalized and staffed than mine is.

For support the other evening I waited forty minutes to talk to a representative. Otherwise I am happy with the service.

Just so you know the dish will be installed next week for the new service. It is all that is available here, and I have been checking for a year, this is supposed to be a good service but the startup fee was high and I was hoping for something cheaper, but finally caved because it takes forever to do anything.
I purchased a chipper yesterday so I am really excited about putting it to use. Our city will deliver mulch and compost to anyone in the city limits, but they both need to be further broken down to use, so I had decided that this was going to be a great investment and a real money saver in the long run because of all the free stuff I will be able to take advantage of. I don't know what this stuff is they call compost but its not, its much more like soil with some leaves decomposed leaves and sticks thrown in, but everything I have put in it is growing great so I'm happy and the best is that its free!!!!!! Now if I could just get myself out of the house and into the yard again I might get something done. Its partially weather this week it has been raining most of the week, and the rest of the week has been barely 52 to 55 and really got that fall chill in the air. I am hoping for better weather next week, I have so much today that I can't quite get even with myself (and this site is not helping) but I love it. Rootdoctor I think I actually know where Alpena is, but will have to try to remember to look it up and see if I'm accurate. I'm excited to meet someone from Michigan. Has there ever been a plant swap here? I would love to get the chance to either host one or attend one. Thank you one and all for your warm welcome's. I all most forgot if you skip the dishes and making bed items you have more time to spend on the computer. (haha)

Ahem!!! I worked as an Drug/Alcohol addiction therapist for over 20 years. This is not an addiction, it is a wonderful hobby that often takes a lot of time-the best things do, and when you are doing this you can do other things-like product sample cookies, chocolate, coffee etc. and to share your scientific results with fellow gardeners. Marcia-MSSW
Lecture over-I have to check the other forums and get my digging lists out as it is getting to the end of my gardening season.
Addendum-welcome Alice-good group here-enjoy. Contact me for chocolate recipes, if you want- I have a few along with hardy perennials.

Could DG be a positive addiction, as in running, etc.?

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

It's the best addiction, It's taken the place of all the others, I give up drinking, and gambling, don't even chase hubby anymore..yep it's a good replacement.... :o)
Now if Lowes and Wal-Mart could deliver......well I would be set.......... just kidding........LOL

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Immediately after posting that I was addicted to DG my computer went out - don't know how long it will be before I get it back. I am going through withdrawal, yes, but I am also getting so much accomplished inside and out that I am amazed. Right now I am at the library trying to get caught up in the 30 minutes (HA!) alloted to me.
Marcia, how about posting some of those chocolate recipes in the Recipe forum?

Holland, MI(Zone 6a)

Here is a picture of my "Ruination." Mitski keeps me seated in front of the computer while I should be outside doing things. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day.
