Jody, my heart breaks looking at your pics. I am so sorry, but happy at the same time that you and your family are ok. To brighten your day - your rear end pics are fab, but how about a face!!!!!!! I will do what I can to help out with replacing plants. Hope you get to come to the GA swap, but if not, we all will understand.
Larry
Hey, sounds like you got some free plants from some neighbors! lol Heck, think about all the ocean side plants you can grow now that you have that salt in your water. ;) (((((())))))
Oh my Jody, just saw this post. I am so sorry, If I can do anything to help, please let me know. There is so much clean up, we were fortunate here, but the bay property is full of sand and half the foundation gone.
Hopefully, the plants will survive as you and yours did and perhaps we could get a bit of dry weather for a while!
Jody,
Like everyone else I'm very sorry this has happened to ya.
Next you said the house was torn apart. Have you address the drying of your house? There are many sharks out now. If you have not yet address the drying resortation of your house may I suggest an IICRC Certified Water Restoration firm. (I'm an IICRC Master Cleaner, and one of my certification is Water Restoration work.)
Here is the link to the IICRC: http://www.iicrc.org/ Click on Consumers center-left of page. Click on Find Master Restoraation Technicians. Center of Page on Right. At mid-page there is an 800# for find those who are certified in your area.
Again I'm sorry about all of this. Good luck. BTW under the industry established standard your water is classified Catogory 3--black water. Anything that has been touch by it has to go! Plus any small cuts etc. on your person you need to watch as you have been in that water.

Jody, I looked at this twice yesterday and again this morning. I just couldn't come up with words. I am so sorry you got blasted by the storm. I am glad your family is okay. I wish you the best of luck getting it all cleaned up and getting your home back together. I wish I could help. I am one of the people that remembers your generosity and kindness. When you are in need of some plants, please let me know. I'd be happy to send you some. (((JODY)))
Jody, bless your heart...I know these things seem so mountainous now but you and your family are OK and thats the important thing....without that there would be less need to replant...so everything is fine...
I know you will go through periods of despaire but remember we are all here for you so don't hesitated to call on us... I can only offer moral support but at times that can be enough...And I have been through a few Hurricanes...LOL
Let me know if you are needing plants replaced I will share what I have too.......... Best Wishes to you and your family Jody............. :o)
Thanks for the info DoW!!
Right now we can't do anything until the insurance co comes out. We stripped out all the wet carpeting and furniture and are trying to at least get the house dry.
We went to the ins co office this morning and nothing is covered under our flood policy expcept permanant structure. None of our furniture, lawn mowers, equipment, tools in the garage etc etc etc. I'm so sad and so sick! :( I didn't think I had any tears left after the first couple of days but I found more.
Oh sweetie! I don't know how on earth we would get stuff to you, but I know people have extra necessary stuff too. I know we could spare some furniture/bedding and maybe even a tv. Whatever you need I'm sure someone could help if we weren't all so dang far away. Maybe you'll have to bring a rental truck to the GA swap! lol
Oh, Jody, I'm so sorry! :(
Angie - you know, that's a pretty good idea, actually.
Just found this post. Jody you are holding up well, but I'm sure the initial shock terrible for you and your family. Here is a cyber hug ((jody))
Please, please post in the future for plants you need to replace. Anything I have that you need is yours, okay? Take care, and keep us up to date.
Jody,
Don't know about your area but secondary damage is not cover by in most insurance policies, if caused by delay of action on the part of the home owner. Simple put waiting on the insurance company to do something is not an excuse. They can use it against you. I've seen it happen.
Secondary damage for you would be the capillary action (of the water) inside the walls.
If nothing else pull your base boards off and drill/cut holes below the top of the base board line this will at least allow some air to enter into the inside. If power is back on then place several fans so they are blowing air into the holes. You need to start some kind of drying process before you home becomes sick.
Good luck!

Jody, can't believe your insurance won't come through. We contacted ours before the hurricane to check on outdoor items and were told they would be covered, things like mower, splitter and the fountain.
Wish there was something more tangible that I could do for you. Possibly FEMA could be of some assistance to you for replacing necessities have you contacted them?
Please keep the faith, you will come out of this better than you think right now and am sure DG'ers will assist all we can.
I can't add to anything anyone else has said. As I read all the above postings the tears were flowing. I feel for ya. When you're ready you know we'll be sending you plants and seeds. Just be sure and let us know... My prayers are for a peaceful heart and the strength to endure this trying time for you. Consider yourself being ((hugged)) by us all every day..
(((((((((big bear hug from us all)))))))))))
That really burns my buns about insurance! Any kind of insurance! You pay and pay to cover the 'just in case'. It never fails when the 'just in case' actually happens, it is the one thing that is not covered!!! What things did you lose that you need right away?? I'd be glad to help. :)
Jody,
Thank goodness that you & your DH are safe & well. I was SO worry about you! I'm SO SORRY that your house & property were so badly damaged!! Were your cars/boat okay or do they need to be replaced?
We have a wet/dry vacuum, if it will help. However, it probably only holds a couple of gallons of water. If you need a place to stay, our house is dry. You are more than welcome to stay with us.
We had some structural damage to the staircase from our deck & the roof of our sunroom, but nothing compares to your devastation! We finally got our electricity back yesterday afternoon.
I can hardly the find the words to tell you how very sorry we are. Please know that your friends care & are very worried about you. Please stay in touch.
Lots of Hugs, ((((( )))))
Shirley
Candee they would have paid for hurricane damage... WIND damage. But the flood policy is separate. We only have minium coverage for flood. Shoot, we live a few streets away from the bay and this area hasn't flooded in the last 100 years or more and probably won't again at least in my lifetime or longer. The conditions of the storm, tidal surge, high wind blowing the water up in the bay, high tide etc. just happened to be perfect to cause it. Yes we contacted FEMA, they are going to send someone out but said it may be about 10 days.
Shirley!!!! So glad to finally hear from you! I was worried about you. Thought maybe you were still without power. I'm glad you and yours are ok with minimal damage. Thanks for the offer! I really appreciated it!
Thanks everyone!!! I know we will be ok eventually. It sure does help to know people care though!
Big Hugs!!! ((((((((((()))))))))))
Sorry to hear of your loss jody......
Only just found all the posts re Isobel
So sorry it hit you so hard Jody - and I hope the insurance gets sorted quickly so you can put things right as soon as poss.
Fantastic photos!!
All the best...
Jody, Your pix are amazing! (and yours too, Shirly!) Good luck dealing with the bureaucrats! And also I wish for plenty of breezy, sunny, fine days to help you dry out. Jen
I am so sorry that both you ladies ended up with so much damage to your homes and gardens. I can't even begin to imagine that kind of devistation. Get your homes straight and worry about your gardens in the spring. It will feel good to have a fresh start then. Let us all know when you both are ready for new plants, and as everyone else has expressed, I would be honored for each of you ladies to have a bit of my garden in yours. Be careful and stay healthy.

Jody, my heart goes out to you and others who have lost so much in this storm. I want you to know that I called our insurance company today and asked if our contents are covered in case of flood damage. Thank you for the reminder to check on such things.
List things you need and I am sure some of us can come up with much of it. And if you hear of others in your area that need help let us know. Hugs, Lani
Jody, I'm so sorry this happened to you, but I'm glad you and your DH are OK. When you are ready to replace your garden, I will gladly share my plants with you.
Shirley, you know we can help and all you need to do is holler.
(((((((((Jody)))))))).......so sorry for all the devastation you have suffered!! You're just the gal tho, that when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade!! Hang in there sweetie, all this will pass, and you will be greatly rewarded!!!

Thank everyone. We'll be fine. Thank goodness home owners insurance will cover the damage done to the house because the trees fell & damaged the "residential structure". If the trees had fallen, but landed somewhere on our property, then it would come out of our pockets to clean up the mess. Our insurance company responded very quickly and sent out an adjustor last weekend. A home contractor, visiting his sister-n'-law on the court next to ours, saw the tree on the roof of our sunroom and then came right over to offer to remove the trees, as well as, our neighbors. Roofers/sub-contractors are beginning to show up to give us estimates on repairs not only to the roof, deck & staircase, but also to the dented siding, damaged gutters, and broken seal on the very large window in our sunroom. The repairs will take time, but all will eventually be fixed. Life goes on....
The most important thing right now is to help Jody restore some "sense of normalcy" to her life, home & property. I'm planning to go over this weekend to lend a helping hand or perhaps a strong shoulder to lean on.
It is very touching to see so many cyber DG friends wanting to help by reaching out to others in times of need. That is what true friendship is all about. Being there for another human being during the good times, as well as, the bad.
Thank you all for caring & your offers of help and hope.

So glad for you Shirley, and wonderful that you are heading over there to lend help and support. I am sure a visit will be exactly what is needed right now.
Jody and Shirley I'm so sorry about all your devastation!!! Jody, I can send some plants too in spring to help with your garden. I'm too shocked to think of anything comforting to say except to offer my prayers with everyone else's.
ya'll are the VERY best! :)
