North American flowers.
They must be photographic guides and be pocket sized books. Can you recommend any? When I get home from work I'll tell you what I have
I'm looking for quality books on ....
What I have are
'Texas Wildflowers'
'Tall Grass Prairie Wild Flowers'
'Wild Flowers of Texas Hill Country'
If you are referring to wildflowers, you might be interested in the National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Wildflowers, Eastern Division. Amazon.com has sample pages you can view.
is it a photographic guide? Do you own it?

Yes, its photographic. I don't own one because I've run out of shelf space. I have the entire Peterson series. Check out the link for sample pages.
Mark, I have and I love it - goes neatly in a backpack. Mine is in rough shape, I think I've dragged it around for about 20 years now, and the newer ones have improved photos. I highly recommend it. May have to get me a new one.
I have the Audubon guide too. Photographs are excellent. I have the their Eastern NA wildflower guide, an insect guide, and a bird guide. All of them have fabulous photos. I've had the bird guide since I was 11 years old. The book is in several pieces now but I still love it. I remember I saved my pennies to buy that book!
Mark, I have 2 of the Audubon Guides. I have some seeds I need to send you also. I will check with the Post Office today to see how much it cost to mail it to you. If it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg, it is yours. The book is somewhat worn, but the pictures are still legable..are you interested? Is your address the same? (The book weighs 1lb2ozs.)
Lisa thanks for the offer of the book but just send me the seeds. Buy yourself a plant instead of going to the expense of mailing the book. Amazon UK may stock it. If it cost is cheap I'll accept it gladly.
Now let me guess what the seeds are ...... yellow with red petal bases?
well I finally bough the two National Audubon Soc books and I'm so disappointed.
How can such a big organisation release books that deal mainly with the most stoopid common names? In the text pages the common name comes first with the botanical name in smaller text underneath . The photo pages give common names only. What a waste of money. I should have looked at the sample pages more closely.
I don't suppose you want something this localized, but "Wildflowers of the Santa Monica Mountains" by Milt McAuley is great. It's a little bigger than pocket size, though. The supplier on Amazon.com is selling it way overpriced ($49.95). The retail price is $20 or thereabouts. If you're interested, I can send you the publisher's address and I'm sure you can order it directly from him.
