Corkscrew Vine(vigna caracalla)

Anyone has these to trade or sase?

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Hope you get some post on this one...I am also looking for this one too...It seems to be pretty hard to get... I am checking every week at the different nursurys here and so far no luck....didn't think about posting for something I wanted..... :o)

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Well, just wanted to say, that a friend and I are growing these, she has had a bloom or two, I have none yet, but we are still hoping!!!
If by chance we happen to get lucky and do get seeds to set on these vines, I will post here at that time. They are so slow, not sure whether it has been our weather or if these are naturally slow growers (snail he he he paced)

Here is a picture of mine from last year. It grew very fast. I dug it and held it over for this year and for some reason I'm not having much bloom at all. You can do some air layering or just bury a runner and they will root. I did that in the house a couple of years ago to get plants to share. I have never had a seed pod on mine. Maybe we don't have enough time for them in my zone.

That is a gorgeous Passiflora....which one is it Brugie?

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

Colie, now you have gone and done it. I have to have one of these. Didn't think I wanted it untill I saw the picture Brugie posted and now I have to have one.

Now where oh where will I find one. LOL

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I think you can do cuttings. I had it last year, but got no seeds and the cuttings I tried didn't make it. It smells divine, would love to have it again now that I have a trellis.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I have seed grown ones with little tiny buds, but it looks like they may have to bloom INSIDE. They take forever to bloom! Luckily I left them in pots instead of putting them in the ground. I wonder how hard they are to pollenate??

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Oh my gosh, I'm in love!!! This is not only an interesting plant but a most devine Vine!!!!!! lol I love this wow!!! I want some too :-)

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Chele - that's what you can send me!!! Do you have a few extra seeds??

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Brugie, can I believe my eyes? Is that really the color of that Passiflora?

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Oh Brugie!!! What a wonderful photo, and the color of the passie is to die for!! what is the name of it please??
Laurrie

ps - I am hoping snail vine isn't too hard to pollinate, cuz, here in my zone, it will have to be brought inside soon and looks like if I am to see anything, it will be inside as well.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

The passiflora is Incense. It is a little more on the purple side than blue. For some reason, my camera won't take good purple pictures. It is actually more pretty in it's true color.

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Burgie, I wish it was that blue that is one pretty Passie...I'm looking for one right now.....thanks for the post......... :o)

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

You can buy seeds for the corkscrew vine from several places but they are a little expensive...you can also buy the live plant. I've heard that the flower is pollinated by ants in order to form seed....(Ü)....

Hmmmm ....aye?????

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

I also fell in love when I saw this vine, Park's offered seeds last year but they sold out before I got a chance to order, I finally located some seeds, but they didn't germinate, so I searched and searched and finally got a plant from Monticello, they are really hard to find! I have some little buds but don't know if the weather will stay warmm long enough for them to open!! I took a small cutting and stuck it in a glass of water just for fun, and it rooted! I'll do some more for sharing, I know how badly I wanted one, so I'll do my best to make some babies so all of you can have one too!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well Azalea, first I have to convince the buds to do something! LOL If I get seeds though, you will be at the top of the list! Maybe I could just bring some ants in. ;) It is dropping into the 50s here at night now. Supposed to get to the 80s today and tomorrow then we go back to 70s/50s AGAIN.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

You probably won't get seeds this year - I didn't when I had mine - it just blooms too late for us. Oh well, just a fun thought!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

I got alot of ants!!!!! lol hint hint hehe

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

For a fair amount of grovelling, I may considering mailing out one of my plants. ROTFLOL

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

OK May I be the 2nd on the list??? Shoot I have to go find out what grovelling means...hold on, fetchin' my Websters out LOL

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Grovel, Grovel!!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL Grovel, GROVEL, ACK!!!!! GROVEL???? :-D OH Badseed??? Where are you? lol

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

I think groveling means "to crawl"....lol...

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

I got bad knee's...theyre knobby too, there wont be much more grovelin' goin' on here on my end LOL...**no pun intended**

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL You guys are too much! Hmmmm, who grovelled the best? I am trying to pot up brugs and ears in between cleaning, laundry and kid chasing! Anyone willing to clean or babysit for plants??

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

I will...maybe if I start runnin' now I can get there by spring? LOL aye????????? lol

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

My local nursery had the corkscrew vine in stock this year and after the owner guaranteed to me that this was indeed the "corkscrew/fragrant/purple to cream" one I was looking for - I bought it.....and just look at it now!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Wow, it's pretty though, dont you agree?

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL....well it is flowering and podding heavily now - must have been all that babying I did to it before it bloomed!...so anyone who wants seeds to this LMK via e-mail - they are not ready yet but will soon be.

JulieAnne

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Is it corkscrew vine or snail vine that is not scented? Last year was a long time ago and that is when mine bloomed! LOL I'd be willing to take a few of those seeds too. :)

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Yeah, babied is the true word - sang to it, talked to it, faithfully watered and fed it....neighbors thought I was plumb crazy - one of my neighbors heard me talking in the yard but couldn't seen anyone so he walked to the fence and thought I was talking to him but instead he caught me talking to the vine....LOL....

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

It is a snail vine but the white variety and it has no scent whatsoever...

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

The corkscrew vine is heavily scented......
