with a project they are doing. They would like to collect picture postcards from all over the country and the world if possible, so I thought where better to ask than Dave's Garden??!!
On the picture postcard they would like you to tell them a little about your area, important historical facts and if any famous people are associated with your city/state/area.
They will read the postcards in class, find the areas on maps and keep a log of all the info received. The teacher says maps and other information about your area would be very exciting too.
Please send your postcards to:

Jan
I'll pick some up postcards and info from Theodore Roosevelt National Park and send out to them.
I hope this one posts. This is the second time I've had to repost because it got stuck and then I got the can't find server page.
Thanks Bitty, there's plenty of time, a couple of months anyway.
Jan, I thought DGers would have fun with this! Thanks to you and Joan for helping. Emmy will be so excited!
What a great idea! I will send one from Seattle
Floridian, great way to help and I love the idea. Will send a postcard from the far end of the state.
Great project. I'll have to find out where I can get some postcards from northern NJ and send them out.
I'm in...I volunteer at Coronado National Memorial this Tuesday....will pick up some info then...but to enclose the information I will put them all in an envelope...how about that...i'll bet even the first graders knew to do that....LOL Jo
Sue, Connie and Elsie thanks so much for participating. I can't help but think how excited the kids will be! I'm hoping for lots more by the time this project is over.
Jo, personal hugs for you in less than 2 weeks! I can hardly wait!
I'll send one from my first grader.
Melissa
I work in Lake Placid, NY, host to the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. I live in Saranc Lake, where author Robert Lewis Stephenson stayed in one of the "cure cottages", (people came to the Adirondack Mts to receive treatment for tuberculosis). Will mail an envelope with some of both cities out on Monday.
What a great idea! I'll try to find some with lots of snow!
Thanks Melissa!
Welcome to Dave's Garden Zone3 Newbie! Sounds like you have some interseting history in your area, thanks for sharing it with the kids!
Mine went out today. Jo
Bless your heart...HUGS!!!
count me ýn, I'll send some from turkey
Alright!! Thank you Pebble! I'll let y'all know what's happening with the class as I hear it.
I'll get one out to you so they can figure out where IOWA is (NOT Idaho!). Known for corn, not potatoes. We always get lost in the shuffle....
I mailed my packet of info to them yesterday. I send a postcard, info on Theodore Roosevelt National Park, a map of North Dakota, some info on the historic town of Medora, and I can't remember what all else. I kinda went on an information hunt for them.
LOL Wandaflowers! Thanks so much for helping the kids...at least THEY will know about Iowa when they get your postcard!
Thanks Joan...I think Emily's dad is as excited about this as the kids are! As I tell him about each post he cheers Dave's Garden! That's good...he knows how much of my work time is spent here!
I sent them a letter last week - I wrote two pages, something about Finland and put in two Finnish coins I think. Anda card. It should arrive this week.
I hope they find any use for the information, don't know if there was anything really interesting for them :}
Thanks Evert, this is really sweet of you! I'm hoping to hear from the teacher today...as of Friday she had not yet put up the maps so no cards have been read.
Have you received the box of goodies I sent yet? I hope thay enjoy and can use the things I sent.
Jan, yes there are packages from Arizona but I don't know if they have been opened yet. I hope to hear today before DH and I leave for the KY Roundup in the morning. If I don't hear then I will post as soon as we get back next week. Thanks to all of you that are participating in this!
I can send some from Saskatchewan but will take a little
while. ;)
Postcard on it's way!
Bernie
Postcard is on it's way from Oregon!!
I'm sending some from the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose and a couple from San Francisco. What a great project.
Thank you all SO much! I'm going back to work today (after our wonderful KY Roundup) so I hope to have some news from Emily's class project.
Miss Verile says the chilldren have been very excited with all the cards and things they have received. Tombstone Jan has sent things for each student and the teacher! They have gotten cards, coins and info from Evert in Finland and information from Roadrunner's Coronado National Park as well as many other post cards. Miss Verile says she will be making books with all the postcards and items and giving them to the kids at the end of the year for keepsakes.
Thank you all so much for putting smiles on the kids faces. You are all wonderful!
**Be sure to put names on your cards so the kids can send you thank you notes themselves!
Nice to know they got my letter :) Hope it was something like they wanted.. If I find an Espoo postcard tomorrow when I go shopping, shall I send one?
Evert, it seems they really enjoyed hearing from you. If you want to send a postcard from Espoo I'm sure they will enjoy that too
Hugs to you!
Glad they enjoyed it. Jo
They must not have received the stuff I sent from North Dakota. I mailed it a couple weeks ago I think. I'll send more if they didn't get it.
Floridian, can we send them all year? There are so many points of interest in my area that might be fun if the project is ongoing.
