Watchdog question

Dave, in the latest newsletter, I saw something that doesn't make sense to me. TyTy nursery had a negative comment. When I looked at it, the person said something along the lines of 'these people are crooks, I would never order from them'. The comment right under it was along the same lines. I thought that the way the Watchdog was supposed to work is by people reporting their experience with a company, good, bad or so-so. It hardly seems fair for a company to get slammed with negative comments from someone who's never done business with them.

Yes, the first rule of submitting feedback to the Watchdog is:

"Fill out this form only if you have personally dealt with this company."

Comments left by non-customers are, as a matter of policy, removed. I'll remove the comment in question here as soon as I finished posting this reply.

Not knowing exactly the content of what was posted in this instance, I have allowed comments that pertain to someone's ATTEMPT to order from a company, and they had such a bad experience the order was never actually placed. In that case, they still had personal experience with the company, even if it didn't result in an order.

However, for those who simply want to "pile on" their observation that "this company must be crooked - look at all these negative comments", I really appreciate having them brought to our attention, as they should be removed and the member given a reminder about what constitutes feedback. (They *should* have read it before they submitted their comment, but some folks blow right past our guidelines :(

Yes, and this one was exactly that. He said basically that he was glad he came to the watchdog first and that he wouldn't be ordering. A useless comment, indeed.

(There were two of them like that and I removed them both)

Thanks, Dave! I'll keep my eyes open and let you know if I see any more pop up.

Three weeks ago, this company was in the Watchdog, and now I can't find them. Am I just looking in the wrong place?

Which company?

They were removed over a year ago. Here's what you see when you search for them: http://davesgarden.com/gwd/advanced.php?search_text=TyTy

Thanks, Terry. Yes, that's what I saw. I must be losing my mind! I would swear I found something just a few weeks ago, but evidently not. And I did a search of the forums just now ... Thank you.

Some companies will see the feedback as honest criteria and try to remedy problems to become a better business all around. Some companies just want to sell and might not like seeing any negative feedback whether it was constructive or not.

I have seen a few companies do a complete turn around after having a bad season and getting bad feedback. Others just kind of disappear.

I can honestly say I have avoided a few companies based on what others had to say.
