Winstar Casino

Coupland, TX(Zone 8a)

Have any of you ever been to the Winstar Casino in Oklahoma?

Right over the Texas state line near Gainsville?

No but my 2 sons work at the soaring eagle in Michigan! ;)
they are 1/8 chippewa!

VERY COOL!
My Husband and I are going to go check this place out and I'm just wondering if any one has ever been and if they had a good time.

narc: have passed by several times but didn't stop. I wasn't too impressed with the size of it from a distance. But that shouldn't keep you from having a good time. I have also visited the camping area just to the left of the interstate after crossing the Red River into Oklahoma. It is okay. Have you been to the casinos in Shreveport/Bossier City, Louisiana? Nice.

Coupland, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Bill
The Hubby got on line yesterday and was reading where the have re-modeled, 110,000 sq. ft. That sounds big to me.
We ususally go to the Coushatta Casino in Kinder, I really do like that one. We went to Bossier City, Isle of Capri, I thought it was to crowded.

We can't seem to mke ourselves get on a plane to Vegas any more.

Hi narc. You're right, sounds like the re-modeling has made it a fairly big place. And I agree, I don't care for the Isle of Capri, either. All of the Shreveport/Bossier places are crowded. When I go to Dallas, sometimes on the week-ends, Interstate 20 is crowded with charter buses from Dallas/Ft. Worth all headed to the "boats" as we call them. I went to Biloxi, Mississippi a couple of years ago and they have some great casinos and great hotels with them. The casinos have really put Biloxi on the map. And that's a lot closer to us than Vegas.

How funny, I call them the boats too...
We plan on taking 35 all the way, I'm sure the buses will be right beside us, you know as long as I am able, I will drive, I have NO desire to get on a bus and go.

Isn't it the pits that we have no casino's here?

I often wonder what the boys at the Capital are thinking about 90% of the time.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

play black jack-thats where you best odds are!!
one son is a BJ dealer and one works in finance!
they make good money there!

The boys at the Capitol are thinking of themselves 90% of the time. The Alabama-Coushatta Reservation near Livingston had a small casino for awhile, I think, but I believe the Attorney General was going to close it down.

Lindale, TX(Zone 8a)

narc: I just found this on the Alabama-Coushatta web site:

YOU CAN HELP!

The Texas Legislature is considering legislation that will enable Texas’ three federally-recognized Indian Tribes to operate gaming facilities on recognized tribal land — providing much-needed jobs and capital to help create long-term economic development opportunities for the Tribes and the surrounding Texas communities.

ACT NOW - URGE YOUR LEGISLATOR TO SUPPORT THIS CRITICAL LEGISLATION

notmartha: Yep, blackjack is my choice. Any jobs up there for someone who is 1/8 Cherokee? No, I think it would be too cold in the winter for my Indian blood. LOL

Coupland, TX(Zone 8a)

Dori... I can't count that fast LOL, I'm better off at the slots. Thanks for the well wishes, we won't go for a couple of weeks yet, but it will be nice to get away.

Bill.. You are absolutly right about the Boys, I work for the state and it seems to just get worse instead of better for us.

Where is Lindale?

Lindale, TX(Zone 8a)

narc: Lindale is 14 miles NE of Tyler just off Interstate 20. We're half way between Dallas and Shreveport. The heart of East Texas. Bill

Got Cha
I have been thru Tyler and actually know someone there.
When we went to the boats we went that way and got on 20, saw a suburban roll into the median, very scary!

There is a casino about 30 miles from me, very small. I don't go very often I much prefer to play Black Jack and they don't have their tables open all the time. Oct. 12 my friends and I are going by bus to Reno. We do this twice a year and have a great time. We leave Wenatchee, WA at 8:00am Sunday morning and return Friday evening. We stop or go to 10 or 12 different casinos on our trip. Go down one way and home a different route. Donna

Hi Ruth
How nice to have some gambling entertainment only 30 miles away, well to think about it that might be bad and good LOL

Antime we want to go and gamble for a couple of days, it is always an ordeal, drive at least 5 hours, make hotel reservations, get my Mother-In-Law to come and feed.

But we always have a good time, it's like a mini vacation for us.

Sounds like your going to have a blast in October, have lots of fun and Good Luck at the tables!

Bolton, Greater Manc, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

gamble for two days!!!! does anyone ever actually make any money at these things? We dont have any casinos in the UK. Gambling is not really a British thing for the mainstream population as falling lottery sales will show.

What are peoples opinions and philosophies on casinos?

Coupland, TX(Zone 8a)

Psilo
I had never done any gambleing until aboyt 6 years ago, and I wasn't sure if I would like it. I think the enjoyable thing for me is the time away from home with my Hubby, we don't go overboard on this, it's entertainment and get away time. I can see where it would become an obsession for some folks tho, it can be addicting.
We usually go twice a year and in between that we go to Rodeos, so the casino's to us are just fun time.

Vick
