Lately there has been some antagonism and hurt feelings on the parts of many different people, each with their own story and most people are probably justified at some levels.
I'd like to offer a different perspective of some of the things that I've enjoyed in the past year and a half or so that have made Dave's Garden a Special Place and the members Special People.
1) My first trade - I was completely new and inexperienced and sent out some cannas to several folks. I still have the hardy hibiscus, rabbit's foot fern, hostas and other plants from that trade.
2) Being a participant in my first co-op. Wow, it gave me the opportunity to try out some new things I'd never thought of. For that, I thank the following people for all of their hard work: bleek, notmartha, Terry, debi_z, Studley, Eyes, Brugie, darius and others.
3) Ran my first three co-ops. I got seeds during a trip to Japan and subsequently arranged a purchase with Lophophora. People have been sharing pictures for months. Each one brings a smile. And yes, we'll do it again. Oh yes, and now I have almost 200 daylilies coming in the mail this week to send out.
4) Secret snack exchange - Yum!! And the Christmas card exchange - such creativity.
5) Secret hosta swaps - as much fun to see what others got as it was to receive something.
6) So many trades - I can't even remember all of them.
7) So many SASE's - new brug cuttings, new seeds, cuttings - all from people who didn't know me and were willing to share something because they enjoyed what they had and wanted to share with others.
8) Northeast Roundup in June. Incredible friendliness and generosity from everyone who showed up.
9) Diet support and annecdotes.
10) Out of the blue surprise gifts. Either from people who knew I was looking for something or knew I lost a lot of plants this spring or one special lady who gifted many of us with plants we thought were from a co-op, but she was doing her part to say thank you to the world.
So, despite all of the problems we've had, I'd like to say - I have ten wonderful things that came very quickly to mind tht have enhanced my yard, my house, my tummy and my spirits. I can't even begin to list the number of questions (many of them stupid) that were answered graciously and quickly. I am truly a better person (with a better yard) for having been a member of this special community and hope that each one of you can reflect on a list of ten items that you've enjoyed in the past year.
I'm staying!
And we all could say a big AMEN.
Thank you!! It's always good to focus on the positive things instead of the negatives. Bless your heart for sharing this with us, stirring us up to think of our own lists of good things. My yard also has things growing in it that were shared by people from far away whom I never would have met without being on Davesgarden.
Agree, Amen and Thanks Sandy! I can't even begin to repay what I've learned and shared here at DG.
I echo the above sentiments. Dave's Garden has been a haven for me. I learn so much from others and have the opportunity to share with others I would have never met otherwise.
sandy im glad i could help make your stay here at daves a good one-i thank you for all you have given me and others! :)

sbarr, thank you for starting this thread! I'm staying too!!
Very glad to read your post and I agree, Sandy. You're right on the spot!
I'm with you Sandy. Amen. Brenda
I agree wholeheartedly with the things said above. My life just wouldn't be the same without my Dave's Garden FIX several times a day. I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't joined Dave's Garden. They just don't know what a wondeful experience they are missing.

Sandy; You wrote such an inspiring little "Top Ten" list that I just had to put mine in here in yer thread too!!
My top ten reason's to be a member of Dave's Garden:
1) Improves typing skills.
9) Makes you "think green."
8) You believe yer a great gardener because of Dave's virtually realistic neighborhood.
7) You don't have to weed yer keyboard.
6) Other members really think you know a lot about gardening but don't care and will tell you how to grow a 'mater anyway.
5) Other members know that you don't know a lot about gardening, and are just like them.
4) You have a whole lot of God fearin folks prayin with ya and for ya.
3) You can post in any forum that you grew a Bottle Tree
'Silica transparencii' and you'll get instant requests askin if you can send a cuttin from it.
2) You can post a picture of a weed and everone will think you've grown a prize winnin variety of an exotic cultivar.
And the number one reason to be a member of the Dave's Garden website:
1) It's THE BEST gardenin web site...period!!
AMEN AMEN AMEN
YEP!!!! Jo
I do have some seeds for 'Silica transparencii' if anyone is interested, they resemble marbles and require special treatment as they are quite hard.
John, you are such a hoot. I can't wait to meet you... Brenda
John, I would love some of those seeds....They come in handy for crafts. But They take all eternity to sprout and I don't think I can live long enough for that to happen.... LOL!
GREAT message! thanks :-)
Ditto to all of the above!
Hey John some of my 'Silica transparencii' seeds are missin!! Where didja get yourn??!!
TC...
I bet he got them from ebay. lol
Sometimes they are just lying around. Whoever had this house before me planted many teaspoonicus metallicus silverus plants but so far none of them have come up. We dig them up all the time though. They must have liked them.
Dave's is a great place and I am glad to be here!
mystic; I wonder who he outbid?! Felder Rushing maybe??
Janice; I've also found 'teaspoonicus metallicus silverus' buried around our place too! Just last week I found one under our back porch.
Yer last sentence: DITTO!
I just wish I had more time to spend on DG, it's my favorite place to be! I have been finding 'Silica transparencii' seeds in my soil, and I also found a plasticea kangagrooicus!

What I like about DG is that the posts are written with good information and good humor.
I don't do no trading just learning and horsing around, playing cyber horse shoes with TC. He's my hillbilly chumster.
I ain't aware of no hurt feelings, so alls I got to say is how important it is to forgive and forget.
BIRD
Bird; you shore be gittin good at that thar hillbilly "typeccent!"
Where'd ya lurn to talk like that anywho??
TC...
TC - I lurnt it from my co-student of British Literature. You taken another break? Hit them books, dude. You gots to Ace that thar exhaminashun day after tomorraw. I am going to have pizza for supper. I got a good deal on a day old sheet (pizza)that fills the oven for only $4.50, We are gona eat half. Now I can afford a daisy for my purenial bed.
Cheers
BIRD
