Hello All

Greenville, SC(Zone 7b)

Thought I would intoduce myself. I found this site a few days ago and loved it!! I am Willowsrain and I have lived in Greenville, SC for about 8 years now. We just bought our house about 3 years ago and so I'm still tring to esablish things. I am an organic gardener and at this time I have a 15 by 30 ft veg. garden. I also a few raised beds around the yard including what is supposed to be an herb garden but planted luffas and birdhouse gords there instead. LOL! I try to plant things that are edible.( My other half always looks suspiciously in his salads,I like to try and sneak in flowers and stuff) I will plant just about anything though.

As for personal stuff... I have a 6 year old son, 5 yes 5 cats (all saved from somewhere) and a VERY big lab-chow dog. I also have a very mow happy hubby, who likes to mow over my stuff, lol!
I look forward to chatting, trading and getting to know all of you!!

Nice to meet you, Willowsrain! We are pet lovers, too, with three cats and two dogs. My hubby is Howie here at DG and I have to other family members here: Lotusblossom (my mom) and Whiterose (her sister).

Howie and I bought our house in June of 1999 and have slowly been landscaping it. The previous (and original) owner was a gardener, but things had been let go when she became to old to handle all the flowerbeds.

We had things looking so pretty good last year, but because of construction of a MIL suite in our basement and some health problems this spring, we never got into the swing of things and we're seeing just how quickly a garden can revert to weeds! ;)

Well, off to help mow (hey, send your mow-happy hubby up this way!) and to yank a few weeds. A few at a time get it done!

Welcome to DG Willowsrain. Sounds like you have some great gardens. I have one rescued cat - Ginger. I can't imagine having 5 - good for you.

Welcome, Willowsrain, from another Ohio person :) I am a plant lover, almost all only-organic, and a cat lover too. I only have one cat now, Lisianthus, because she is such a scaredy-cat that she would go into terminal terror if another animal came onto her land.

I also have a very odd sense of humor, so if you happen to see something that I have written and can't figure out, you can bet your booties that it was supposed to be a joke that didn't make it. I am crippled, so am used to falling on my face ;D Kathy

Welcome Willowsrain, neat name. I sure wish we would receive some rain here. We have not had measurable rain since first of June. Have had much longer and hotter summer than usual. It was 102 degrees Wed, when I was taking things to county fair. 100, yesterday and cooler today only 92. I don't expect any of my baked goods will be worth bringing home, or the flowers or the veggies. But I did receive some Grand, and Reserve G ribbons and blues, a few reds and 2white ribbons, so I am happy. Donna

Welcome Willowsrain, It's already getting colder up here. Frost warnings up in Aroostock county yesterday. We have 2 rescue dogs and 1 we bought. Monday I'm going job hunting at Knox and Waldo county animal shelters. I don't need the money. I make $100 a day fixing Volvos. I want to do something else. and I love animals. If I have enough to pay the bills, can I do what I want to do?

Welcome from Idaho where we are still having 98 degree days after a long summer of many record breaking days of heat. We too are in drought and I wish we could get rain by mail so those here who are being flooded could send it to us.

We have one son (26 years) who has just moved back in after many years away. He is starting his own business and we figured he could help us out with the farm work and we can help him out financially for a while. He is our pride and joy as is his "sister" our 3 pound 3 ounce black toy poodle, Whitney. We also have a 115 pound Great Pyrenees dog and I rescued 4 Shar Pei dogs this summer and now have three puppies of theirs to sell. (All the dogs but the poodle are outside dogs due to my allergies). Then there are the two horses, many goats, 10 hair sheep, and the koi and other fish in our four ponds.

DH and I have been married for 29 years this month. He is an awesome guy and we still like each other after all these years! I really feel that this is an achievement!

Hello from Wisconsin. Extremely dry here. Will take any moisture anyone wishes to send!
Wonderful place here at Daves Garden. Questions are answered.

Isn't life grand. Only in the USA can we enjoy our life styles regardless of what they will be.

Hello from the NC mountains! Like you, I'm trying to go all organic, esp. foods, but my garden hasn't an area for veggies. Maybe the next house...

By the way, we have at least one other member in Greenville, Angelsong.

Welcome to DG, Willowsrain! It's a pleasure to greet you as a new member of this fine community.
