This is definitely a frequently-asked question :)
Who selects the "photo of the day"?
I've always wondered! I figured it was Dave.
As far as I know, the "Photo of the Day" is selected by us; namely, by the number of times an image is viewed by the members and visitors to the site :)
I had been wondering myself...thats good to know...thanks Terry
Yes, that's it. Every time a user looks at a picture in the PDB or the forums, the server keeps count. At the end of the day, the system grabs the most viewed picture that day and makes it the Photo of the Day. That's why it is usually Brugmansia photos - that's where most of the photos are being viewed.
Dave
So that's how it comes up! Does it count unique hits, or does it just count straight hits?
I'm not saying a word about the algorithm I use. ;-)
Dave
I was wondering about this too, but is the answer still the same because I've seen several different pictures today alone. So how often does it change, and how is it selected?
I didn't notice this until today because I rearranged my homepage to move the photo to the top. I like to see it every time I click on "home".
