In addition to the Do Not Call registry, you can also have your name deleted from mailing lists. Write to:

MAIL PREFERENCE SERVICE
DIRECT MARKETING ASSOCIATION
P.O. BOX 282
CARMEL NY 10512

Ask them to add your name/address to their lists of people who do NOT want to have unsolicited mail sent to them.

Good thing to bring up! When I worked for a large catalog company, we had that contact in our big info book for when customers said they didn't want any more junk mail. We advised people that it can still take 6 months or so to get off most lists, because companies print labels and pre-printed catalogs well in advance and warehouse them until their mail dates. There can be some overlap even when you're no long in a company's system.
