House again!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

P.S. Did you stretch the carpet and do all that tackwork stuff? My knees hurt just thinking about it!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Wow, Bernie! I just found this thread; how exciting! You are really making it beautiful. Good job.

Carpet is rubberback, also temporary. We plan on adding on next year, so will carpet the whole thing then. The LR will nearly double in size.

I didn't know you could get rubber backed carpet in such large pieces. That's good to know.

Love the window treatments in the bay window. Mind if I borrow your idea?? I have a strange little ruffly things in my bay windows to cover my mini blinds but the draped fabric is so much better. Your home is looking cozier by the day..

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Country Gardens, great to see all you have been accomplishing. Your house and all the improvements looking wonderful. Donna

We got cabinet doors & drawers.
Managed to get them done for our family Christmas party.

Wow Bernie! You rock! You have done a wonderful job! Everything looks so nice! Does that mean you will be coming to see me soon??? LOL You thought I'd forget, didn't ya?

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Never know, I do things on short notice.

Those are really pretty, Bernie. We have brick "windowsills" beneath each window outside and I'd love to figure out a way to hang window boxes from them sometime. We have vinyl replacement windows, so there's no wood frame for us to use screws on anymore.

Kimberly,
Things are happening on a whim around here, long story!
Anyhow, I brought this up to post a picture, read your post & just yesterday read in Wood magazine a solution to your problem. It is on page 56 of the April/May issue. A nice looking planter box that stands on legs, anchored in the ground with post brackets. Take a look!

We almost have our kitchen complete. 2 doors are left to make, made them 1" to wide, so doing over. And get the glass for 8 doors over the area between kitchen & dining room.
Heres a couple of shots!

Wow, NICE! I like the layout of your kitchen.

The windows on our house are all at least 5-8' above the ground, so we'd have to have very long posts. The main place I want to put a windowbox is the window on the front of our house, right above the driveway (and my mother-in-law's front door). http://davesgarden.com/journal/j/si/73693/

Kimberley, are your brick windowsills just the ends of the bricks that stick out like two inches more than the wall? At my other house, I made window boxes out of cedar and mounted them beneath the bricks. We went back and put decorative brackets beneath them but they are actually attached to the brick wall.

Hi, Bernie. Yes, that's what they're like.

Awwww, what a dream. Your flowers really compliment the paint color. It's beautiful, Bernie. :)

Kitchen is 98% done now. 2 doors to make yet. Were made wrong size, bummer.
This is what we did for countertops.

Bernie, you do such nice work! The house looks lovely.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Bernie, great views of your house inside and out. when I bought this manufactured home 11 years ago, the one thing i really wanted and wasn't available was a bay window. Now of course they are making that available. Can't change homes like we do autos!!!!!!!!! You and your son do such great work. Couldn't tell from my monitor the color of outside of your home, is it gray or lavender (my favorite color).

Donna

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

It's called Heritage Blue. Looks blue-gray in real life.

Bernie your house is lovely!! You are such a talented guy. Wish my dh was a carpenter. lol

We live in a single wide mobile home and my kitchen is on the front end with nice bay windows all the way to the floor. I love my kitchen! Dh and I plan to have a wrap around porch built from the front door all the way around to the end of the kitchen. I would love to have some kind of opening where my windows are now so we could just walk out on the porch. Something like french doors or sliding glass door. But some say it can be pretty risky to do this that the opening might leak. But that would be my dream to have it fixed so I could just walk out on the porch from the kitchen. The whole porch would be covered. Have any thoughts on this Bernie?

Lin

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Just do it!
Shouldn't be to hard to make it so it don't leak. Use an exterior door & put a drip cap on it.
With a roof on the porch it should be easy.
Bernie

" You can do itttttttt ! "

;-))

Midway, TX(Zone 8b)

I needed that vote of confidence! LOL

We are going to 'do it'!!!!
