Good evening. I was wondering when the best time was to transplant a grape plant I have. Thanks, Dave
transplanting grapes
Has it been in the ground long? I tried to remove a grape that I planted and I couldn't get all the roots up. The dang thing keeps coming back.
Same with me, Poppysue. I dug up and gave away a Concord grape vine that had been in the ground 10 years; it survived and flourished in its new home, but I still have to keep pulling all the new suckers.
Dave, if yours goes dormant, that is the best time to transplant it. If it doesn't go dormant, at least do it during its resting season. Cut it way back to help re-establish quicker. I cut mine back to the main stem and 4 branches.
