Thank you for the birthday wishes. I don't often come to this forum but decided to do so tonight. I'm sure glad I did. Had a wonderful birthday. I worked by I love my little job so that didn't steal any of the pleasure.

Thank you very much everyone. I was caught on a Friday this time round, when it was still the end of Thursday out there half way round the earth. I'm off the computer on the weekends. I'm now coming back on Monday morning to see all the posts here.

I have an 83-year old man friend who lives in Bombay. It was the Radio which brought us together - he happens to be one of the most experienced Shortwave listeners in India(though this hobby is wainig away). It was Radio Korea in fact and we were both monitors for this station and I had seen his address among the 5 Indian monitors in 1985. Since then, our friendship has grown. We have met thrice in between. He is the one, even though now frail, who never fails to drop me a greeting card in his own shaky handwriting well ahead of my birthday.

My daughters prepare a greeting card themselves and they wait for the morning to hand me over those. My DW prepares a sweet dish at home. That is how in a nutshell my somewhat low-key birthday goes on. My friends here on DG brighten it up nicely. I feel fortunate to have been among some lovely, caring people.
