Bob, i do not know if i put up the photo of the wild dat b4. the wild dats flower are tiny, about an inch across. they are super prickly as the cactus spines.

these datura blooms i share with are big like brugs blooms. the D. inoxia are about 8"-10" across. the black currant or D. metel var fastuosa is nearly 4-5 inches across. the dat. metel cv golden queen is only 4" across.

will check ur mail Lilypon ;).

Wow, is that different from the one you posted at 12:24? Incredible. Luscious!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

the last photo, believe it or not was taken the night before, when the petals were beginning to emerge. the photo 9/3 12:24 was taken late this afternoon, after the rain. it is much open, from the rain i guess. all the petals inside from last night bloom were all out from the rain. strange isn't it? this is the very reason why i observe my plants a lot. no one can ever tell what the Mother Nature has instore for this plants. it still is the same flower!

this is the only purple datura i have blooming in the yard. the others have not bloomed yet, nor do they have any sign/s of budding.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

MVR, I would love seeds of D metel alba and purple. They are unbelievable.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

MaVie, what datura is white with leaves that are maple leaf like and not dark in color? I don't remember planting this one, but I sure have it and it is about 5 ft. tall. I can get a picture of the leaves tomorrow, but thought you might know without a picture.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Brugie... Datura inoxia ... http://www.floridata.com/ref/D/datura_i.cfm probably is the one u are referring to as maple leaf. whereas Datura stramonium has somewhat oak leaf shape ... http://www.floridata.com/ref/D/datu_str.cfm i hope i have answered ur inquiry.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

MVR, I can't believe I said maple leaf. I meant oak leaf shape. I'll have to take a picture of the leaves tomorrow if I can remember. They are quite large. I just have no idea where this plant came from. I've never had it before. Actually, the leaves remind me more of the triple or double yellow dats, but it is a med. size single white. I'll get back to you tomorrow. Thanks so much!!

MaVieRose,

Your pictures are absolutely beautiful. Most of them look like paintings! I have only been a member of DG for a month or so and I feel like I have read 'every thread' possible. (Like the guy on the commercial that "gets to the end of the internet".) This is a GREAT place!!! I have read many things that you've written and thought that you were extrememly knowledgable! I have been quite impressed with you! I am very sorry about your illness and pray that you recover soon and hope that your pleasure in your garden is great! After seeing your pics I know you must be enjoying them.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Beautiful plants you've got there girlfriend! So glad to see that you are feeling better.

Hugs,
Joan

Brinda... welcome to the Brug Forum & DG. yeah it has been a long time, i was out for a while. am not that knowledgable, i just love to do research and help out in my own little way. helping others gives me great pleasure, and in the process i do learn a lot too ;).

DG sure is a Great Place, everybody try in their own special way to help out one way or the other, in so many ways. here is a beauty that surprise me today. it is not a brug, but it sure is a beauty.i tried to take a top view, but my camera ran out of battery LOL. maybe post the top view tomorrow. btw, i use a cheap digital camera Toshiba PDR-M61. it is super easy to use and it has it's own software. for an amateur like me, i am very pleased w/it's performance.

MaVie
Just beautiful; my surprise lilies did not "surprise" this year; will keep my fingers crossed for next year. Think maybe the soil was too wet and they may have rotted.
