in the sutry balmy desert weather. the long hot dry weather in the desert brought a lot of frustration due to a lot of plants dying. at some point, i almost gave up. BUT tonight, fragrance emits in the air with all the blossoms that came through from the brugs and datura i am growing. here is Isabella showing her full glory...
Fragrance is in the air...
Have fun! Get your nose ready suchh nice smells............
oh!! i can smell it too. lol glad you didn't give up.
Don't give up. Had a neighbors tree--a very large tree fall on all my large potted brugs that I winter in gh. Next year will be better.
WOW Ma Vie! What great looking and healthy plants. Love all the pics. So glad you are finally having such beauties, you deserve it after the summer you have had. Thanks for sharing your pretties.
Very nice MaVie. I agree that you deserve some success after all you have been through.
I only wish there was smell-o-puter here. I still haven't smelled a brug flower. Waaaaaaaa
What fleck?
What a gorgeous pic Ma Vie! I just love it. Isn't it fun to have blooms to photograph and share again. Thanks so much.
Lani... wish there is a way to bottle up the fragrance. i would do it in a heart beat if i knew how. between the brug and the dats... the evening air sure is lovely!
Kell... remember on one of the dat sites i posted before, u liked the purple dat with fleck on the flower. if u looked closed on the calyx, u'll see there are spots even on the stem.
They are all beautiful. Glad you managed to save some of them.

Beautiful flowers MaVie, glad you are finally getting some blooms.
Great pictures MaVie. I'm so glad you are feeling up to taking them and sharing with us.
Enjoy them. Thanks for sharing. They are well worth the waiting and all the work.
I bet you have a lovely oasis in the desert.---
thank you one and all. i did try my best to keep these alive inspite of what i have been thru.
sorry to come back this late. i have been sick and had been given medication for severe virus caught due to lack of air condition the past two weeks in the triple digit temperatures we are presently experiencing. medicines i have to take makes me very drowsy and sleepy most of the time.
sad but true, this year has been so bad for me. 1st time in my life to be very sickly. it would seem i am in the dr.'s office every week for some ailment or another. had not have the time to spend in the garden as much as i would like to.
these plants that bloomed for me, i would consider to be a gift from above. this brug died and come back for some reason. the daturas were seeds that was disperse in the pots of brugs situated near where the daturas were growing last year. i am lucky that i got some of them. am still hoping that maybe i still have the white dat. with triple flower, since there are still lots of dat. seedling coming up from the pots we moved here from last winter's move.
i just wished that my health will be back to normal, so i maybe able to grow more lovely plants since i got the space to work with. if i am not as active as i once was in DG, it is not cause i did not want to participate but illness prevents me from doing so. thank you again.
Oh, MaVie, it pains me to think of you being so ill and weakened. What a treat to see you here, even for a brief time. I hope and pray you will be feeling more like yourself soon. I miss seeing your hyperlinks, your email, your dauntless spirit.
Aimee says it so very well. You are and have been such a special part of the posts on DG. I know you will be back in full force soon and I await that day with great anticipation.
Just looked at thh picture again enlarged Ma Vie, too beautiful!
I feel so bad that you have been so sick this year. The rest of the year will be much better for you!
Make some Icetea,I'm coming out there to sniff your Dats!
MaVie, nice to see you posting. I'm so glad you got some blooms. Those dats are real troopers, aren't they? Great photos too. Hope you start feeling like your normal self again soon. We miss you!
sending good chi.
MaVie, did you all get any rain there in the high desert when Twentynine Palms was getting enough to cause all the flash floods last week? I know just how dry it is there in your area and windy too.
thank you dear friends for ur caring support. the virus still hangs around, todate the broken A/C has not been fixed. am not here to discuss my ill health but to share the lovely blooms of the datura in my yard.
here is the Datura Metel 'Alba'. took the shot, after the 1st rain we have for the season... am sure so glad to see this bloom once again!
Mayvie they are gorgeous!! I've never seen "Alba" before
...thank you!
Ok Ma Vie! They are too beautiful! Go ahead and send some! LOL
Gosh MVR,that thing looks like it going to explode out of there!
it is easy to do Bob. if not, u can lightly burn the nana leaves and freeze them... that way u have some handy when u need them. instead of using foil, u can wrap anything with the nana leaves. give u that extra natural flavor ;)!
to lightly burn: hold the leave stem, put over fire. place the darker green color against the fire. from the back of the leaves, it will show traces of what is being lightly burned. lightly burning the nana leaves, makes the leaves pliable and easy to work with. cut off the leaves from the stem. wash and fold the leaves, then freeze.
whenever i barbecue or roast fish over the coals, i always use nana's leaves to wrap them with. a wee bit expensive here, since it is a rare commodity in this area.
maybe next year i should try growing nanas here ;). hint, hint LOL!
I know how to take a hint gal!You got them!is the picture of the Dat I put up,the same seeds you sent?it is a small delicate flower, not the same as normal wild form here.
MayVie you've got mail!
