I am curious why we stay here and new people keep joining ? What is good about DG?
Personally I stay because I love it .I am not leaving !!!! This is my home away from home. We all have had a problem or 2 but we keep coming back so that must say something. I stay because this is my family some I have known for along time, some I am just getting to know and others I don't know yet. No I don't trade much anymore, but that does not make me a bad trader. But you never know if I have seen you post something you want that I have it might show up in your mail.I come here for peace, friendship and a few laughs at the beginning and end of a long day.I still think and always will that this is the best garden site on the web.I'd like to ask every one to continue making this a wonderful place it is !We have to be doing something right. What makes this your home away from from home?
Home away from home
Let's see...I live so far out in the boonie, and I watch very little TV...I do read some, but I check in here many times a day.
I am here when I get up and am having that first cup of tea....I am here when all of you East Coast people go to bed (except some night owls). I can usually be found reading the posts day and night...when I am home.
Most of the "Oldies" know things about me....I snore..I dislike rice...I LOVE Chocolates...and I CAN'T garden. I am known to some as "The Brug Killer"...(and rightly so)....but you know, some of you keep sending me things...trying your best to make me into a gardener!! GOOD LUCK!! (Shoe, I have had 4 RIPE tomatoes!!)
I have made so many friends here that I don't see how I could do with out Dave's Garden.
Jo
Your posts says it all. I keep coming back because I've never met so many neat people online in one place. The talk on the forums here has blossomed into so many real-life meetings and friendships. I've been online since 1994 and I've never experienced a phenomenon like this at a site.
Even this year, when Howie's and my gardening has hit a low because of various circumstances, there is so much else going on here we still feel part of things and love to be here.
because of people like you!
Oh Peggy, thank you so much for posting this. I can't add much to what you've already said but I sure don't know what I would do without DG. And yes, many here are my second family. Heck, I was more excited to see you and Michele in June than some of my real family and I bawled like a baby when we had to leave each of you. Yep, I'm here for as long as I've got a computer and can breathe LOL...
Edited to quote the following from my daily calender which I hadn't read when I posted this:
"True friendships are lasting because true love is eternal. A friendship in which heart speaks to heart is a gift from God, and no gift that comes from God is temporary or occasional" Henri J. M. Nouwen

Yes, this is my Home away from Home! I spend a lot of time here when I get the chance, and always try to check in once a day when I'm really busy.
Here is where I bring my dumb questions and get good answers.
Here is where I see photos of more "Must Have" plants.
Here is where I find help with garden problems.
Here is where I find a good chuckle for the day.
Here is where I share my experiences in the garden, good and bad.
Here is where I find people who become friends, even if we never meet.
Here is where I feel touched by people from around the world.
Here is where I feel connected to the world outside my door.
Ditto to all the above.
Yep, this place is my home away from home and everyone who knows me, soon learns the same thing.
I have made soo many nice friends here it is unreal.
Welcoming new members means a new friend is in the making.
Gotta love it!!
Ten four on that Mollybee! New friends comin', old friends staying! Ya gotta luv it!
Mighty good words of wisdom in these posts and quotes above! Truly they are sentiments of Davesgarden! Mighty fine, mighty fine!
Ah yes, a mighty good home away from home, where the positive outweighs the negative, eh? A place to slip your shoes off (if you wear them), sit back, relax, and just accept and receive, and give, all things wonderful. Not too many places let us give out the good stuff, but here is the place that lets us! Yee-hawww! And in the process of giving, receiving is not really an action on our part, 'tis something we get to inherit.
Ain't it grand!
Long live DG!
Ive only been on this site for about a month and Iloveit!!! The folks here are nice, helpful and have been very patient with me since I know next to nothing. No one has made me feel stupid and I know most of the vets. think my newbie questions are pretty lame. Theyre being very nice about it though and so I dont feel intimidated. I would recommend this site to anyone looking for one and especially to folks who are new to gardening!!!!
Berrygirl, NO question is a dumb question because somewhere someone else will want to know the exact same thing!
Just post away them questions, and let the learning begin!
berrygirl, don't ever be afraid to ask anything you'd like to know. Someone will surely give you an answer. We're all here to learn from each other :)
I've learned so much here and am still learning
I in fact learn something new here every day! and that ain't no lie!
