Computer Jigsaw puzzles

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I use Excite as my home page and they have 2 daily Jigsaw puzzles on their game site...I do them every day and have gotten hooked on them. I have searced for some other FREE puzzles to do and can't find any that aren't trial downloads or that are funky puzzle pieces. Does anyone know of anywhere else I can find some to play with. Has anyone ever bought any of the games they sell on the sites?

I really would love some input.

Thanks,
Donna

http://www.livingscenes.com/ this is a 30 day trial for a great program. You can use it to create puzzles from your own images or use the ones they supply. But the motion ones are awesome! I have a few days left on my trial period and have already decided that this is worth the price to buy it.

I have found and tried a lot of them but this is the first one I like enough to purchase. If you try it out let me know what you think of it.

I like this site for online puzzles http://www.jigzone.com/

I bought a cd at Walmart called egames and it has Puzzle Master 3 on it. It has it's own puzzles or you can make your own. I really like computer puzzles - the cat can't get to the pieces.

Shockwave has some really cool games. Bounce is my alltime favorite and we also have Excavation and Bookworm.

You can get trials to play for free and then purchase.
Shockwave seems to be a very reputable company.

Good Luck

Donna, I've gotten hooked too. I use this site. Has a daily puzzle. I figure I need to do something challenging to exercise the "little gray cells". These can be sometimes pretty difficult but you can change the difficulty to suit yourself. Enjoy

Thank you all for the info. I will be out of the house all day today, but will check these out later.

I purchased Jigsaw by RealOne Arcade. It cost around $20 to download it, and there is and free trial offer. With this downloaded program I can use my own photos, choose the size and shape of the pieces, and store my finished puzzles in a virtual gallery. I just love putting puzzles together without all the mess. http://www.realonearcade.com/

I tried the ones someone loaded into my puter before I got it, and concluded it's for people with more patience than I have. But I do like to play other board games. I need to look into some, for the times when I can't sleep and y'all are asleep.

Vicki - We love Bookworm, too! I play it online since my demo ran out. We do have it on Howie's pocket PC, though, and it's great to play right before going to sleep - no interesting plot to keep me awake and interested, and just the soothing making of words.

There are some beautiful and innovative games at http://ferryhalim.com/orisinal/ -- Best thing is, they are controlled with simple mouse movements and clicks. I don't do two or three-button games.

I am like you, just the simple stuff, check out Bounce, that is the one that relaxes me before bedtime, the music on it is soothing as well.
Excavation is another simple one, but I dont like the music, so I just turn that option off.

Spider Solitaire is another good one too.

Ya'll have a good Sunday!

Vicki, I'll have to check out Bounce. By the way, you were this close to making a hyperlink! Just edit your post and add the "http: //" (without the space) at the beginning and it will become one. :)

I'm not having any luck with the hyperlink,I saw your FAQ and did a copy and paste, oh well.

For my gray cells I do the puzzles on http://picture.com/puzzlecontest/puzzlec.asp everyday. No funky shaped pieces, and I've never won $50 (and never expect to) but they're good mental exercise. I'm just happy if I can tie the winner for the number of moves. The random time thing is beyond my control.

I don't remember if I told you about http://thinks.com/.

I goofed! :) I just noticed what I typed in quotes came up as a hyperlink - just added a space in there so you can see what I meant to say. Sorry about that!

Looky!! I did it. Thank you gardenwife!!!

Way to go! Soon as I get done working on this customer's computer, I'm going to go play some games, LOL. I'm de-worming someone's PC and looking stuff up on Howie's laptop as I work. My monitor's hooked up to the customer's PC, so no playing on mine!

Coupland, TX(Zone 8a)

The worm!!!!!
This past week at work has been pure You Know What because of this. Part of what we do is considered a help desk for our service, the phone has not stopped, we sent out a disc to our Task forces with Windows 2000 and XP to clean them up just to find out the ones running 98's were still causing problems, I'm talking over 100 Task forces!!!

I hope this week will be quieter, my other work is suffering.

That is one thing about the computer games, it does relax me to have them to play. I need to figure out how to get them saved, they don't want to fit on a floppy, guess I should get a cd burner, I would hate to lose them.

Take care:)

Oh, MAN, don't even get me started. I spent 12 hours working on that woman's PC yesterday, trying to figure out what was corrupted so I could get Windows Update to run. No avail. I went to ExpertsExchange forum, went everywhere, tried the steps Microsoft suggests...Would *not* run. She's bringing her Dell restore CD's out to the house today and I'm just going to reformat it and reinstall MSN8 for her. I'm not going to put any more time into trying to get it to work - as it is I[m only going to charge her three hours for it because I don't want to charge her for hours of troubleshooting I probably shouldn't have even bothered with in the first place. I just want to be done! Whooooo.

That said...Man, I need my Bookworm, or maybe Scrabble. Naw, Bookworm's less taxing on the brain-o.

See how I segued back into the thread topic? ;)

Coupland, TX(Zone 8a)

We are loading McAfee 4.51 on the 98's. I am not a computer person, the computer people that we have made this cd for us to overnight out with really simple instructions, then the phone starts ringing because they open one folder and the 15 more show up and they and ME don't know what to tell them.
She made some print screens on Friday for us to use, when they do call, what chaps me is this worm should have never got us, that tells me that our people haven't got a clue about firewalls or any of the things a state agency should have to not get infected, what a mess and of course their is never enough help. :(

Have you tried bounce yet? If I recall you can download 10 free games and then purchase. I like the blue ones and watch for the chameleons.

I just played it - that's really fun! The music's nice, too. I tried making my first row diagonally and didn't understand why it wouldn't work. Heh. Thanks for the link to Shockwave; I've not been there in over a year and there is SO much to see now that we have broadband.

Coupland, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm glad you like it, It it fun to throw the balls around with the mouse and use some strategy when there are bombs involved.

I went to your members page and saw your puppers, we have a Ginger that looks really similar to your Emma, same coloring except Gingers nose is light pink, we call her eraser nose sometimes.

We have Horses too, they are rotton just like Ginger!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Eraser Nose? Classic! I call Sarah "Sarah Spotty Nose" because she's getting little age spots on her nose as she gets older.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Where can I find this Bounce game that you all love so much? Thanks.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

It's at the shockwave.com site. If you search for bounce in their search box, you'll see it and its progeny.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

SoCal, have you tried any of these yet? Just curious which were to your liking ang which were a pass

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Zany, were you ears ringing???? I was just coming here to post to this thread. lol

I have tried all the links you all have shared with me. Some of them I just loved, and some were just OK.

I like trillium's daily shockwave
I did my trial on Weezies Real one Arcade, still considering it.
I've seen the Orisinal one
I didn't care for Goldogs "gardenseeker" as it has the funky shaped pieces.
Marty Jo's is chanllenging, but not a jigsaw puzzle

And the winner is yours Zany...I have been playing it everyday and finally got to do the moving "waterfalls". I have done 5 puzzles on there, but I can't seem to get anymore to play with. Do I have to wait for another week to get anymore? I don't quite understand how it works. My DH has said that I can purchase one of the games, just want to find out which one.

Once I find out which one to get, I will let you know.
Thank you all for your help. If you come across any more, just post it here.

Donna

Thanks, I found Bounce. Looking forward to trying it. (Sounds like a laundry commercial doesn't it?)

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

You should be able to do a lot of their still puzzles during the trial period but just the one moving puzzle. I understand there are a lot more moving puzzles on the disc though. Also you can make puzzles out of your own pictures (or borrowsome from DG) My time ran out so I have to wait for the disc to play anymore :(

Coupland, TX(Zone 8a)

NoH2O
Your right about the laundry commercial, but this is so much more fun than doing laundry ;) I hope you enjoy it.

Narc, I was up until almost 3 last night playing bounce and bookworm. I have probably used up 2/3 of my free games with bounce. Highly addictive!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

SoCal: As I said, I have RealOne Jigsaw Puzzle, and I really enjoy it. I use mostly my own photos that have been edited in Watercolor form. I decided to download the trial Living Picture program, so that I could compare them. Here are the conclusions I reached:

1. Living Picture is available by ordering a CD, while RealOne is a download from the web, purchased by credit card online.

2. Living Picture photos are beautiful photography, whereas RealOne is more the standard variety.

3. RealOne seems more user friendly when moving the pieces, but that may be because I've already been using RealOne, and I'm used to it. For instance, RealOne uses left click to pick up pieces, right click to rotate - Living Picture uses left click to pick up pieces, then the center scroll wheel or one of the keyboard keys to rotate. Overlapping pieces is less friendly on Living Pictures. Pieces can easily be buried under one another, but not the case with RealOne.

4. The trial program for Living Pictures is limited to three small puzzles with about 20 pieces each.. enough to try it out. The trial program for RealOne has more complicated pictures and is limited by the time you spend rather than the number of puzzles.

5. Living Pictures costs $29 (don't know about shipping), while RealOne costs $20 (download, no shipping).

You might try downloading both these trial programs and see which you like best. I think it would be great fun to share photos for these programs!
