Looks wonderful, but I'm full from eating as I was picking earlier.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Mmmmm, lovely! Do you have any Miracle Whip? (Sacrilege, I know).

Northport, ME(Zone 5b)

Add a piece of Romaine and some bacon, toast the bread. Also 1 India Pale Ale. There's lunch.

Yummmmmy that looks so good.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Zowie! She's ready to roll, eh!?

Lookin' good!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Mmmmmmm! Wow - you sure keep a spotless kitchen too!

Crossville, TN

Shirley...You had to out do me didn't you? LOL My sandwich took 4 slices of tomato to cover the bread!! Oh Well, what's a cousin for...will be right there!! Dea...her whole house is spotless...and beautiful. Jo

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, how nice of you to invite us to a lunch treat. I brought my jar of Hellman's and some tuna, along with my crispbread and black coffee, an avocado and some coarse ground black pepper. Move over, Jo, and don't take the last of that lovely tomato. Here, this green tea is for you.

Crossville, TN

Dang,Aimee...you really know how to travel...may I share the Avacado? Hey Shirl....do you have any Sweet Tea...this green tea doesn't cut it for me. Jo

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

SGTDOT! you are right on. My favorite summer lunch, big fat slab of so ripe garden picked fresh tomato on balloon bread with a dash of salt and a small scoup of mayo. Of course growing up never Kraft, only Hellmans and now in California they do not sell Hellman's so Best Foods is the one!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Same thing, Kell, as I understand it. Good stuff.

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

sgtdot, that's what I have every day for lunch. Love em.
Thought I would get some corn from the garden but the raccoons got all of it last night. DH had gone out a couple nights in his PJ's with his shotgun. ( wish I had taken a picture) but he didn't go last night.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm with Frankay - BLT for me, thank you very much. Although a sun-warmed 'mater on toasted bread, with a dab of mayo is certainly worthy of consideration :o)

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I once heard that Brandywine was the most flavorful of all the tomatoes..

Cochrane, ON(Zone 2b)

sgtdot, I just love your countertop. Is that corian? Or one of the new surfaces that are out?

Bel Air, MD(Zone 6a)

Broots, what did I do, I was trying to find a photo of the kitchen LOL and look what came up Sorry. Maybe Dave can delet it.

Bay City, MI(Zone 5a)

Looks yummy :) Has anyone ever heard of beef heart and mortgage lifter tomatoes? They are suppose to be heirloom. I tried the mortgage lifter, yummy!! Now to try the beef heart.

Crossville, TN

Tootsie....Horseshoe sent me a "Radiator Charlie's Mortgage Lifter" but of the 3 plants he send that one was broken. So, he grows them. Jo

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Nope, the sandwich needs Miracle Whip or Hellmans AND a pile of bacon, and lettuce! A little cole slaw on the side would not be amiss!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Darn it, DJM, now I have to eat two sandwiches. Bacon is on my diet, so I can do that. Okay, please pass the Hellman's back around, and pass this avocado to Jo, I've really made a pig of myself with it. Oh, this is one of my favorite sandwiches, why was I settling for tuna? There is nothing like the taste of a bltav sandwich with this good strong black coffee.

Bel Air, MD(Zone 6a)

It has been nice having lunch will all of you folks. Next time I will serve apple pie and ice cream for dessert.

Crossville, TN

A girl after my own heart! Jo

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

after having reread this, I need to rush over to the farmers' market to get some heirloom tomatoes for a sandwich right now!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Any left for me?? Sure does look mighty tasty!
I'll bring my BluePlate Mayo along with me.
Still warm off the vine isn't it?? tell me it is!!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

OH, when I was in La. I liked Blue Plate. "Just right"

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

You know it!! That is some good stuff!!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

In the mid-50s, there was a cute television commercial, in which a little cartoon figure said, after a lead-in, "This mayonnaise is too sweet", another one said "This mayonnaise is too sour", with the appropriate faces, and a third one looked dreamily at the Blue Plate jar and said "This mayonnaise is juuuusssst right! It's Blue Plate". My wonderful FIL always had to say the lines as he scooped out mayonnaise. I can see the twinkle in his eyes still, and Blue Plate will always remind me of him even though he departed this life many years ago. And it's still just right. Rarely available here, and rancid the last time I bought it.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

O man I just figured something this popular to us here would be available everywhere! You're not that far off from me eaiter.
That is just plain strange! Know what I'll have to send ya for Christmas now giggle

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Mollybee, it's all over Louisiana, just one state over. I think they must not have developed a market here before Hellman's moved in. Wal-Mart had a few tiny jars last year, but that wasn't fresh, so I think someone must have dumped some outdated stuff on them. I was elated to see it on the shelf, but one taste told me it wasn't MY Blue Plate.

Girl, don't you dare mail something that heavy! It will cost a fortune in postage. I will stock up when I drop in on you so we can study auto mechanics techniques together.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

hee hee I'll stock up and be waiting for ya. HUGE grin!!

Bel Air, MD(Zone 6a)

Girls, I have never heard of Blue Plate, it must be really good. and yes the tomatoe was fresh off the vine.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

One would say "you ain't lived until you've tried Blue Plate Mayo" Best I ever had!

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Who puts out Blue Plate? It sounds yummy! Tsk, Aimee, you brought tuna fish? Thats good too, but the BLT can't be beat!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Here's a link to their site.
I normally don't buy it in squeeze bottles though, just quart size jars.
Tooo yummy!

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Wow am I ever kicking myself for not planting maters this year! That looks great to me. A mater sandwich and a glass of icy cold milk....yummy!

Crossville, TN

Zany....I LOVE milk with mine too! Jo

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, they don't have it in Ill. or Ia. BUT they have it in Kentucky! Lexington and Loiuisville. So hopefully when I get to the RU, there will be time to shop!

Northport, ME(Zone 5b)

Up here(Down-east) Apple pie and vanilla ice cream comes with a good-sized slab of sharp cheddar. (Irish coffee optional) Finish with plain old bread and butter. Drink some water, then wash your Hosts dishes. F.
