Have lunch with me.

I only have one tomatoe plant (brandywine) and just got this first beautiful one.

Looks wonderful, but I'm full from eating as I was picking earlier.

Mmmmm, lovely! Do you have any Miracle Whip? (Sacrilege, I know).

Add a piece of Romaine and some bacon, toast the bread. Also 1 India Pale Ale. There's lunch.

Oh, how nice of you to invite us to a lunch treat. I brought my jar of Hellman's and some tuna, along with my crispbread and black coffee, an avocado and some coarse ground black pepper. Move over, Jo, and don't take the last of that lovely tomato. Here, this green tea is for you.

SGTDOT! you are right on. My favorite summer lunch, big fat slab of so ripe garden picked fresh tomato on balloon bread with a dash of salt and a small scoup of mayo. Of course growing up never Kraft, only Hellmans and now in California they do not sell Hellman's so Best Foods is the one!

Thought I would get some corn from the garden but the raccoons got all of it last night. DH had gone out a couple nights in his PJ's with his shotgun. ( wish I had taken a picture) but he didn't go last night.

I'm with Frankay - BLT for me, thank you very much. Although a sun-warmed 'mater on toasted bread, with a dab of mayo is certainly worthy of consideration :o)

I once heard that Brandywine was the most flavorful of all the tomatoes..

Looks yummy :) Has anyone ever heard of beef heart and mortgage lifter tomatoes? They are suppose to be heirloom. I tried the mortgage lifter, yummy!! Now to try the beef heart.

Tootsie....Horseshoe sent me a "Radiator Charlie's Mortgage Lifter" but of the 3 plants he send that one was broken. So, he grows them. Jo

Nope, the sandwich needs Miracle Whip or Hellmans AND a pile of bacon, and lettuce! A little cole slaw on the side would not be amiss!

Darn it, DJM, now I have to eat two sandwiches. Bacon is on my diet, so I can do that. Okay, please pass the Hellman's back around, and pass this avocado to Jo, I've really made a pig of myself with it. Oh, this is one of my favorite sandwiches, why was I settling for tuna? There is nothing like the taste of a bltav sandwich with this good strong black coffee.

It has been nice having lunch will all of you folks. Next time I will serve apple pie and ice cream for dessert.

In the mid-50s, there was a cute television commercial, in which a little cartoon figure said, after a lead-in, "This mayonnaise is too sweet", another one said "This mayonnaise is too sour", with the appropriate faces, and a third one looked dreamily at the Blue Plate jar and said "This mayonnaise is juuuusssst right! It's Blue Plate". My wonderful FIL always had to say the lines as he scooped out mayonnaise. I can see the twinkle in his eyes still, and Blue Plate will always remind me of him even though he departed this life many years ago. And it's still just right. Rarely available here, and rancid the last time I bought it.

Mollybee, it's all over Louisiana, just one state over. I think they must not have developed a market here before Hellman's moved in. Wal-Mart had a few tiny jars last year, but that wasn't fresh, so I think someone must have dumped some outdated stuff on them. I was elated to see it on the shelf, but one taste told me it wasn't MY Blue Plate.

Well, they don't have it in Ill. or Ia. BUT they have it in Kentucky! Lexington and Loiuisville. So hopefully when I get to the RU, there will be time to shop!

Up here(Down-east) Apple pie and vanilla ice cream comes with a good-sized slab of sharp cheddar. (Irish coffee optional) Finish with plain old bread and butter. Drink some water, then wash your Hosts dishes. F.
