I guess I should also ask if it is possible at all...

I think it is possible to just take a spade and divide the clump in half, so long as both halves have some roots and stems. You will probably need to prune the tops back to a few inches, and also prune the roots way back, then plants the 'crown'. Cuttings are supposed to be possible to root, I have never been able to. Or, they are easy to grow from seed, often bloomng the first year.

Do you know what type of mallow? I've found I'm better off to let my Malva moschata reseed, rather than divide or move them. If I try to move larger plants in the spring they don't always survive. The little seedlings can be be dug up and moved easy enough.

I just got him to sign up to Daves...I'll prod him a little to intoduce himself and to clarify...
(I do belive it is a Malva)
