Weird symbols?

I've noticed this in people's messages. It happens periodically and when someone types a word with an apostrophy s, it puts these weird diamond shapes up in the post. Any idea why it's doing that?
It doesn't happen all the time

What Browser are you using?

I have no clue but if you have IE goto
-View
-Encoding
-Auto select should have a check mark beside.

like I said I dunno and I'm just grabbing in the dark here.

I'm using Netscape, but like I said, it's not for all the pages. I typed something when I posted earlier and it had all those weird diamonds in my text in the preview so I went back and corrected them and then it was fine. Wintermoor posted in a thread and it had those too

flo: That's weird. I'm using Netscape too and Wintermoor's post looks good to me. Not a diamond shaped thingy in the whole post.
